Here's a little piece made with Repro-1... apart from the drums/percussion and two tracks which are from ACE (Kyhon's soundset). There is a patch in Repro-1 that is called Soft Trump. In the Leads folder. It was way too tempting not to use it and even, to give the name to the piece.
This is not meant as a demo of sounds - it is artistic only. Created in Bitwig, mixed using Harrison's Mixbus32C DAW and EQ. Using Linux. Presswerk, uhbik-A, uhbik-D, Satin also in there.
https://soundcloud.com/nominal6/softtrump
The blurb that comes with it:
The title for this one is from one of the presets included in the new Repro-1 synth. There is no political statement but if you insist... there might be a general statement about the blah-blah talk with the piece ending appropriately with an ACE synth sound called 'In the Oubliette', in the dungeon if you wish
This said, I do not favor any of the - for all practical purposes - only two candidates.

From the manual:
It actually retriggers at the LFO rate, so either the implementation or the manual is wrong. I guess it's the latter.REPEAT switch: Retriggers the envelopes at the Clock rate.

That depends on the state of LFO/KEY/CLOCK switch. Manual is not wrong, but could be a bit clearer, yeah.

Get a breath controller! It is quite fantastic honestly. I got one from teccontrol some months ago, there may be other options.mevla wrote:Now if only I could find a way to use those 'breath controller' parameters built in the Diva Performer soundset...aaron aardvark wrote:Bring on more factory presets!

Although breath controllers are well worth buying (if you don't smoke too much), those sounds were NOT programmed for them. Most MIDI keyboards can be configured so that a knob or slider can send MIDI CC #02 (also known as "breath control"). That's what mevia should be aiming for.ulph wrote:Get a breath controller! What would be so funny about that?Stefken wrote:I'm already laughing!jbuonacc wrote:so how about you list these "10+ other synths that sound very similar"? we could all use a good laugh.bobhva wrote:You can beg to differ all you want. ...![]()

Now i could not list 10+ synths that each sounded very similar to Repro-1.
But from noodling around with RePro-1 i haven't discovered a huge difference in character or quality compared to what my existing setup can give me.
And when i get something i think sounds better its such a small difference that im not sure if its just a placebo effect in work. Like i think it sounds very strict and authoritive and i like a lot of the bass sounds i have gotten out of it. Or do it just want to like so i can justify spending money for gear?
Also i haven't noticed a better sound with the non-CPU-saving mode.
Now all that is not surprising since i didn't pick the "best" algo in the researchware thread so my ears obviously arent trained enough to easily pick up all the subtle differences that might exist.
Given my experience i could imagine that for many people RePro sound just like many other average softsynths.
So i would like to hear what to listen for to find the leap in quality.

Does it have midi out from the sequencer ?
Can't see it mentioned in the manual.
Will there be an "fx" version of Repro ever - would like to run other things through that effect chain!

No MIDI out I'm afraid. We might do drag'n'drop MIDI one day, then for this sequencer too.Nev wrote:Does it have midi out from the sequencer ?

An FX version was planned, but with a different concept. I'm not sure if it's commercially viable at this point, or if changing its concept makes it so. In any case, it's not a priority at this point, and I can't say what, how, if and when.

Will the 12/6 official release version have any changes to the UI/skin or is it safe to try and make a skin based on the default this weekend? I may try to figure out how to make my gray alternate, a proper skin this weekend.

You could get a 'leap motion' controller; That is, unless you smoke enough that you're in danger of losing some limbsmevla wrote:(Crossing out buying a second hand MIDI breath controller on ebay)Howard wrote:Although breath controllers are well worth buying (if you don't smoke too much)
