It's rather the contrary. The guy who sells it on ebay might be a heavy smoker. Maybe he thought that by using this he would exercice his lungs.

3D controllers are interesting. There's one sold for $10 by AeroMIDI (1). I could see nodding the head one way and the other to change sound inflexion.

Thing is, they all use software. Since I use Linux that might be problem.

I listened to some of your pieces on Soundcloud - quite nice !

Cheers.

Can't see it mentioned in the manual.

Will there be an "fx" version of Repro ever - would like to run other things through that effect chain!
No MIDI out I'm afraid. We might do drag'n'drop MIDI one day, then for this sequencer too.

An FX version was planned, but with a different concept. I'm not sure if it's commercially viable at this point, or if changing its concept makes it so. In any case, it's not a priority at this point, and I can't say what, how, if and when.
What about an audio input? :hyper:

Aeromidi is an app that needs the leap motion to run. I might check it out at some point, but I have to explore 'Geco' first

Thanks for checking out my music. Music making? Ah, those were the days :scared:

Also, enjoying your stuff. Will get a follow, as soon as they let me sign in :(

Hey guys, does anyone else struggle to understand the behavior of the root notes in Sequencer? Or is it just me?

The manual states that:
A lower ROOT actually transposes the sequence upwards, which is counterintuitive but logical.
I can see what's counter-intuitive here, but what about the logical part?

Say I have Sequencer in 1+2 pattern mode. Both patterns are 4 steps long, playing note 0. The first pattern's root note set to C4, the second one is A#3:

Pattern 1 [C4]: 0 - 0 - 0 - 0
Pattern 2 [A#3]: 0 - 0 - 0 - 0

Everything here tells me the resulting pattern should be:

C4, C4, C4, C4, A#3, A#3, A#3, A#3

but what I hear instead is:

C4, C4, C4, C4, D4, D4, D4, D4

What's the logic I'm missing here?

Post

From the previous page:
Playing any note other than the specified ROOT transposes the pattern up or down.
If Pattern 1's root is C4 and Pattern 2's root is Bb3, and your sequenced notes are set to 0, and you trigger both patterns with a C4 on your keyboard, then you'll hear the C4 for Pattern 1 (as you're playing the specified root) and a D4 for Pattern 2 (as you're triggering the pattern with the note one whole step above the specified root).

I agree that it is counterintuitive, and I think a transposition setting rather than this root scheme would be simpler for most to manage, but that's the logic behind the behavior.

Post

Thanks you. But this "root scheme", why is it here in the first place? It's like the first time in my life I see such behavior and even after your explanation I'm not sure I understand. Is it a legacy from some vintage equipment and has some history?

Post

Never mind. I'm a dummy. I didn't realize the Pro-one had a sequencer. Now I found the original manual and it says:
In playback, the entire sequence can be transposed over a two-octave range by just hitting a key between CO and C2. The transposition is equal to the interval between C1 and the key played. For example, to transpose down a fifth, hit F0. To transpose up a major seventh from the original key, hit B1. To transpose back to the original key, hit C1.

Is there a known issue with skins where the "Default Skin" setting is ignored?

1. I've created a modified skin
2. I launch Repro-1
3. I select the Skin - Result: it launches without issue, looks good
4. I go to the Preferences panel and set the skin as default
5. Close Repro-1
6. Re-launch Repro-1

Result: Default skin is loaded, however Preferences still show the modified skin.

Not sure if it's a bug, or if there's an error in the skin itself.

I'm not a Facebook so I can't try for myself, but are you able to save it as your default skin? Would you mind PM'ing me a link or dropbox (or just attaching here)?

Here's where I'm at with my "Gray" skin. This is darker and warmer than the last version I posted. The only goal here was to get rid of the brown-ish hue of the current skin while keeping it warmer than the last screenshot I posted. If the GUI doesn't change between now and the official release, and I can figure out why it's not saving when selected as default, I'll post a link.

Here's the warmer version. The back panel is less brown, and darker than the current at the expense of some darker lighting in some spots. This is meant to look somewhere in between the current version and the less saturated version below.

And here's the cooler version. This one has less color, and looks more cool as a result.

Can you post a screenshot of the folder layout for your skin (along with files), within Support/Themes folder?
