drzhnn wrote:I managed to make it work. Looks like Repro-1 doesn't load user theme data on startup, even tho it remembers the name of the custom theme and writes it to com.u-he.Repro-1.Preferences.txt. On restart Repro-1 reads the theme name but doesn't go loading actual theme files. Or so it seems anyway.

This can be fixed by editing the Repro-1default.txt file in U-HE\Repro-1.data\Data\Scripts\ folder, which is dangerous, because it's a system wide setting. But if you go for it, you'll need to replace the content of the Repro-1default.txt to this:

Code: Select all

THEME name='Warmer Gray'
This will force RePro-1 to always load your theme at startup.

To restore default behavior change the text inside the Repro-1default.txt back to this:

Code: Select all

INCLUDE filename='Repro-1_orig.txt'
That worked beautifully, thank you! I guess that confirms there's some kind of bug at play here.

Yes, but I don't know whether it's your theme or something else. I don't have other custom themes to test.

Finally got around to buying this yesterday, but I have to say the little hunt you're making users do to buy it is a bit confusing. Why not a direct purchase link on the product page? Do you get some sort of kickback from KVR for driving traffic here?

But I'm loving it. Really very nice. I've never played a Pro 1, but I don't care and wouldn't want one. To me, just the extra performance functionality alone is more than worth any loss you get from not having a dedicated interface. The sound is gorgeous. Having actual analog hardware is getting less and less important for any sonic benefit and hardware VA is more or less irrelevant to me, at least for actual analog style sounds.

I just bought Repro-1 at the beta price for myself for Christmas. People might remember me years ago asking on this forum how to get Yaz/Yazoo synth sounds with Diva or Zebra. So now that I have some synth sounds that are very similar to the Yaz, that's pretty cool. When Urs first talked about making a Pro-One emulation, I feared that most of the sounds would sound pretty thin compared to Diva or Zebra, and wondered if it was a worthwhile project. But the added effects make a big difference in making Repro's sound more huge. While there is something neat about playing a real Pro-One (I have now owned one just over 35 years), it's real nice having patch memory, nice factory presets, MIDI capability, automated knob twirling, and not needing to refurbish the hardware due to dodgy knobs, switches, and keyboard. It might be different for other people, but I'm more likely to experiment with different synth settings because I'm now not worried about having to write down nice patches, or mess up a current patch that I'm using a lot. :)

Ok. If you were me Repro-1 or Tal Bassline 101? I know that this is apples and oranges but anyway... I still can't be sure about monophonic mode.

Both are great, but to me RePro 1 is just so good. The modeling is superb and having that extra osc and filter alone makes it a much more versatile synth. I've always felt the 101 was a bit overdone, but undeniably classic. Hard choice. Both?

Yeah, it's a great to have both (like 101 too) but need to choose today because after 24 hours (+/-) Repro will be for 99$ :) Anyway maybe buy Repro first because 101's price never was higher than 60$. Hm...

The Repro is the first u-he product I will buy (and not test the demos from time to time). I totally like the sound. For me personally its not so static and edgy as most other vst. The Diva had a very smooth and clear, 3D-like sound but it was a bit too shiny and glossy. I really have the feeling that the repro is a machine and not just a piece of software. Bazille is a masterpiece I´m sure but it´s just too complex for me. And Hive lacked midi mapping of modulation parameter and maybe is a bit sterile. All subjective of course..

I have no idea what he means. Any knob in Hive can be MIDI Learned, no?

Urs, so last day for 69$ is December 6, right? Not 5 like it was before?

I meant the modulation targets, you have to draw lines with the mouse

Some time about noon Berlin time of December 6 we will release Repro-1 and set the final price in our shop. For some people this might still be December 5th. For some people this might already be December 7th.

Holding off such purchases until the last possible minute are often subject to missed deadlines :clown:

How would MIDI help you with that? Which controller lets you browse through lists of more than a hundred modulation targets?

You can MIDI Learn the patch inputs in Bazille and ACE. That's already something that MIDI control can't make any easier than the mouse. Hive's ModMatrix targets would be even worse than that.
