finally got around to installing v1. what is going on with the red displays? they look like they have some "grid" effect on them. sort of like an old LCD screen, but it looks horrible.
is there something wrong with my install or what? i really hope they aren't supposed to be like that.

That's intentional. You can edit it the png's if you like.

Great job, Urs and team!
Bought it during beta to get a head start, but nice to be able to install the extra-shiny official release.
Off to play now.
Cheers,
Trahast

No need to reinstall. This is an issue that can happen on Windows. It depends on the GUI size setting of the plugin and the resolution of the monitor. It's a known issue, but I can't tell you when and if there will be a fix for this. Maybe try another GUI size, it looks ok on some sizes, other sizes will unfortunately show this grid.jbuonacc wrote:finally got around to installing v1. what is going on with the red displays? they look like they have some "grid" effect on them. sort of like an old LCD screen, but it looks horrible.

Yes, some hosts won't immediately adapt the plugin frame to the correct size. As you already noticed, closing and re-opening the GUI will usually fix this.jbraner wrote: - The VST window doesn't resize when I change Repro-1 from, say, 100% to 110%. You have to close the plugin, then re-open it.
This sounds really weird. Will check that preset with the VST3 version in Sonar. Currently have no idea why it would not play on some keys.jbraner wrote: - It seemed to have "dead" notes for some patches. In other words "UH Grinding Away" didn't play on some "E" keys, but played on all other keys (including other E keys)

It wasn't just the one preset. It was a few of them. They are all fine with the VST2 version.tasmaniandevil wrote:Yes, some hosts won't immediately adapt the plugin frame to the correct size. As a matter of fact, everything was fine when I first started going through presets, then some keys started going dead on some, then it seemed like they all had "bad keys"
I'm sure all the presets are fine and it's a SONAR/VST3 thing...

that would be a horrible thing if this was intentional, it looks ridiculous. i guess it isn't though...Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote:That's intentional. You can edit it the png's if you like.
thanks, good to know. the odd thing is that i'm positive that i tried a number of different GUI sizes with the beta and never had it do this. i set it back to 100% and it looks ok now. i guess i'll just keep it at that for now.tasmaniandevil wrote:No need to reinstall. On Windows, the background quality is varying wildly based on the scaling. For instance...Suloo wrote:Usually it looks like this. At least on mac. Maybe reinstall..
70-80%: Pretty smooth
90%: Pretty bad
100%: Looks good - smooth
110%: Horribly blocky background
120%: Not as bad as 110%
130% or higher: Looks good - smooth
I guess this is an example of Windows not having the best image resampling.

TBH we do the resampling ourselves. Coincidentally, my first project after Repro-1 turns out to be "UI code optimisation" which includes another look on the resampling code - it currently does the resize all at once, but I guess it should do multiple steps for best results, or run a blur beforehand. My main focus is refactoring and speed ups, but I've also wanted to look into that as well. Didn't know it was that badFunkybot's Evil Twin wrote: I guess this is an example of Windows not having the best image resampling.

Honestly, if not for the little squares in the background of that image it would probably look fine. Don't beat yourself up.Urs wrote: Didn't know it was that bad

I get background patterns just as TwinFunkybot describes. I tried the different % zooms in the 2 beta versions and don't recall it looking like this. The 110% makes me feel like I am at a picnic - you know that chequered tablecloth look - I kind of like it.
I say definitely DO beat yourself up over this. Its an oversight to be deeply embarrassed & personally ashamed about. I would be utterly mortified.

yeah, i can't understand why it wasn't happening with the beta versions. weird.spunkmuffin wrote:... I tried the different % zooms in the 2 beta versions and don't recall it looking like this.
also, all this made me realize that i'm not to into the red on brown look. mentioning how i thought it was supposed to look like the character spacing on an old LCD made me think how nice it would look with a light grey/green screen background. or a pale yellow or something. can this aspect of the GUI be changed?

The text + background colour combination in Repro-1 is my favourite of all the U-he synths. Bright Scarlet on a Dark Burgundy Red background. I love it, don't change it.
