It is tempting for sure, I already got Extreme Environments, which I like.

EvilDragon made an excellent interface for EVE too.

Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

So, question for those of you with 8Dio strings. Is the Agitato supposed to sound like it is at a faster speed than the tempo? Will the Adagio be a bit slower? It's just I could really hear the difference when comparing it to my other stuff. It did not play well with the others.

I've been going through my string libraries and used a Handel piece for strings that I've downloaded the midi for. What has surprised me is that the SoniVox amazingly good in comparison to some of my other stuff. The Hollywood Strings Gold has only one mic position and is okay. Impact Soundworks Rhaposody Orchestral Colors sounds low compared to the others. And Solid State Symphony held its own. And these 4 sounded really good together. No adjustments to the players - though all but Hollywood is Kontakt, but I added 2016 Stereo Room to all of them with the same Strings 1 preset.

And even as a Freebie? Don't bother with the VSCO free version. It doesn't actually sound like the same orchestra is playing the different notes.

I will say that my setup is not the greatest. My room doubles as my office, so the sound is only okay.

I haven't pulled the trigger on it yet, but I am close. I've been playing around with what I already have. My SonoKinetic stuff is really amazing. But, it is limited to the phrases that come with it. I find I like using Kontakt libraries over other players.

It is one of those things where the price is so good, I really think I should get it. But right now, I don't really need it. And it is still almost $400 for me. :?
Yeah, you can't really call anything that's $400 a no brainer around here. Maybe if we were talking about a new car or something.
Yeahhh, that's what's making me think pretty hard about this... do I need it so bad to justify $400 (despite being a way awesome deal compared to list price)? I personally really want something that layers well with what I have (hollywood orchestra, ewqlso gold, session strings, LASS first chairs), so probably the more character the better. However, amazing pieces have been made with WAY less than what I already have, so I'm still trying to decide if more strings is the answer. It's so easy to get lost scrolling through menus instead of focusing on the music/arrangement, and I've heard Adagio is especially difficult in terms of plug & play workflow.

Also, with the Embertone sale going on AND Eastwest announcing a buy one get one free till Valentine's Day, I'd say there are still options to consider even if the 8dio purchase would give the largest volume of samples to play with.

The plus for me for 8dio is it uses Kontakt. I'm not crazy about all this the different players. Kontakt is stable.

If the Adagio/Anthology is on par with Spitfire, it is worth getting. Otherwise, I should pass and save my money

Looking at quality as well as price, the Embertone surely is the one to get now, if you haven't got it yet. It's one of the best bundles I have and I've been enjoying it since I got it last year. But that $199 price is simply incredible for these four Kontakt Player libraries. You even get mono and stereo samples in 16bit as well as 24bit, to use on a laptop or a desktop computer. Then there's the Ensemble button that allows you to play ensembles. And they give you controller templates for tablet use if you're so inclined.

I cannot offer a direct comparison of the string libraries but I have a couple of 8Dio libraries and a few Spitfire ones and to me the two companies seem to operate on a equal level both in terms of the quality of their products but also in terms of their customer support. 8Dio doesn't do Kontakt Player libraries, so you have to access them through the files menu in Kontakt. Full Kontakt only.

The Embertone offer was tempting but for me some brand loyalty kicked in plus I already had parts of the Adagio bundle so I went for he 8Dio offer. I think it is an extremely good value but as others have said, at that price point the term "no-brainer" does not apply anymore.

I can also confirm the upgrade path. I bought the Adagio and Agitato libraries I did no yet own and sent 8Dio a support request to add Anthology. And 24 hours later it was in my account (on a Sunday, btw).

One final comment. The three packages come in at around 200GB so you should not be squeamish about download size and disc space.

Thank you. This is what I wanted to know. I look at Spitfire and other similar libraries but the price puts me off. 8Dio at its regular price would also be a no go. I have full Kontakt, so its not a problem. I have 3 drives in my newly built computer. The partition with my Kontakt libraries was getting full, but then I realized I had the libraries and sounds on the same drive as my projects which wasn't the plan. Suddenly there is a lot more room.

I think I want Hive, but I'm feeling pretty cheap. Anyone know of a sale (best marketplace price is selling it for 110, I feel cheaper than that.)

U-he sales are somewhere between rare and non-existing. The Marketplace is probably your best bet.

You are probably right. I hate low-balling someone.

Ok, thanks.

Before Xmas you could get Uhe stuff with extra discount at JRR.
They got their knuckles rapped for that.

Just be patient. I saw Hive going for $100 and lower in the Sell & Buy forum here.

Why do you want Hive? It's really not impressive.
