The trick goes, If you take 2 equal boost/cut eqs, and link them together, to cancel each other out... Then you place an effect in between them, say, a distortion for example... then you can actually "tune/eq" your effect in relation to your eq curve...
What it actually means in practice is (At least on my rendition)...
If you boost the eq gain it will reduce the inserted effect/s in that frequency
It is actually a very useful technique, and can breathe new life into your plugins... And please don't feel limited to distortions... It has a very interesting effect on reverbs and Chorus plugins too
I have added a rack insert for convenience... Just insert an effect and tweak the eq parameters to hear some magic
