...sigh....

thanks Mod...no harm done..

AD80...no harm done...I don't about where you were born...nor I might add, you where I was born...if you read your history books you will find that my people suffered horrendous conditions under preemptive strikes by a hostile colonial power...just a thought...

My point was there is a popular culture of denial of incorrect practice and procedure in the name of "in a perfect world things would be different so we may as well put up with a shitty one"..this extends from the closeted little microcosm of the audio software world to the global issue which affect millions...some (such as Panama city residents) more than others...

It's a tool, not a religion for me fella...so I don't feel the need to defend Jobs or any other manufacturer of tool...I just want my tools to do what the manufacturers say they will...

Anyhow...you obviously have an opinion, I have mine...you seem a little more passionate or angry about it...i don't really care to take it to much further...

Love

Bahahahahahahaha this reminds me of work
First week on the job I take a call from a Mac user who tells me "Your company is going to go under when OSX comes out! No one will use Windows anymore rant rant rant" He didn't read what he was signing up for and was mad when he couldn't install our service, Windows only on the Host side.

Then I take a call from a Windows XP user, "Your company will go out of business if you don't support Fast User Switching blah blah blah".

Point is they were both wrong, we're getting bigger everyday :P So I say quit ya bitching! Good things come to those who wait

(like a Slicy Drummer VSTi I can use in T)

Hey Mod,

Just saw the :P hangin' around at the bottom of your post ... actually thought you were AD80 to begin with...!!!

I don't really care too much...it's not ruining my life...I just think it's bad business practice, not entirely honest etc..

..however, now that I'm in personal communication with you (and despite you being a PC developer) :P , just wanted to say that I dig what I have seen of your efforts here in Tracktionland....thanks for the work you do..

I'm curious, where's the advertising that says Tracktion is dual platform and contains Final Mix that they're "breaching"?

I've not seen any advertising about Final Mix being in Tracktion ...
"my gosh it's a friggin hardware"

Post

You know, this is really very simple.

The update very clearly states that a mac version is coming soon. That was over a week ago. I don't doubt it will happen. I'm not angry or anything ridiculous like that. I'm only curious and think it's a little funny that "soon" can linger on for a while sometimes.

When I read threads/posts in this forum, I don't think "that one's for pc's" or "that's not important to mac users" etc. As far as I'm concerned, I see Tracktion users and, more importantly, musician/songwriter/composer/engineers etc. Still, every once in a while, I get the feeling that Tracktion pc users don't share the same "love" for Tracktion mac users and that's too bad. It's too small of a program to divide the user base into two camps and not root for each other's progress.

A suggestion for Tracktion pc users: try to imagine the shoe on the other foot. Would you want to be told that you're lucky to be here....or don't ask for equal consideration...or don't poke fun at feature updates that drag on longer than expected? I didn't think so.

It's embarrassing to have to be the one to point these things out but my sense of fairness get's the best of me sometimes.

Now, for cheerleader mode: Yeah Jules! Yeah Mackie! Yeah updates! Rah, Rah, Rah!

You know, I should have mentioned somewhere that I actually agree with you James (believe it or not). If they say "its coming soon", then it should be done soon.

But Sixnon's belief that a company has bad business practices if they dont release everything at the same time is just plain crazy. It doesnt make sense if a company doesnt have the recourses to work on both platforms at the same time. Why should one be held back just to please the other one? Thats not fair.

So really I have no problem at all with your posts. :)

just to back up a little, but different release schedules do happen for different platforms with big software.

If Adobe get a mac version of Photoshop out before the PC version, I don't believe hordes of PC users would go running to Paintshop Pro. Adobe was a Mac company, and much of their development gets road tested on the Mac, then ported to PC when they are happy with it.

Borland seem to place priority of development for Windows over Linux. As a Linux based customer, that pisses me off. My department has spent a fair chunk of change on Linux products from Borland and we aren't feeling the love in the same way that Windows based programmers are right now. That said, from a business perspective I fully understand that Borland's main market is Windows, the main bulk of their code and development model is on Windows, and Linux will always be the port, and thus six to twelve months behind.

If you are that amazed that a small (one man) outfit like Jules, and a "not really a software company but here's some we bought at the market" outfit such as Mackie can't run exactly the same operation as a dedicated audio company such as the Props, then take heart that they are at least in good company with plenty of other much larger and much more famous software companies.

Yeh valley,

I do see the distinction between my argument and that which James makes. I understand that "that's the way things go" in the software marketplace..

I don't think AD80 has provided a very cogent argument to support his "just plain crazy" assertion, but I can see that there's a lot of personal stuff in there not necessarily attached to this particular thread..

that being said it probably is "just plain crazy" to suggest that the marketplace is in any way fair or "not fair". moral or no...it's profit driven in it's current form and that's where it stands..

So, I think I'll withdraw my hat from this particular ring and, like James, hope that a definition of soon is provided soon :)

Again, love to you all, regardless of the computer platform you chose to use!
