and weirder sounds are not better sounds, they are just weirder sounds. so no matter how
many new synths you buy, you start to realize the best sounds come from the synths that
make the good old normal sounds, which are.... you guessed it, the old soft synths.
Wrong....but please continue living in the past. You seem to be at home there.
no, i'm right. piano, violin, guitar.....all from the past. wayyyyyyyy past. still the most
widely used sounds. so F off. :idiot:
Excuse me ? F yourself punk.

No, you're wrong since you said....."so no matter how many new synths you buy, you start to realize the best sounds come from the synths that make the good old normal sounds, which are.... you guessed it, the old soft synths".

Now it's "piano, violin, guitar". Try to make a cogent argument when you're trying to troll.

Anyway this is about Linplug not what some Neanderthal thinks.

Once again good luck to everyone at Linplug in your new endeavors. :tu:

I would not say they are going under. I would say they are going away.

Let's raise a glass for the class act that LinPlug is and has been, and a cheer of gratitude for a generous announcement in advance as well as nice discounts on their product line for now. It was more than what has been previously handed to us by other devs, and I for one am appreciative.

The problem there is you're naming real instruments and not synths. For that matter then, everything that ever came out since the first Moog (and even before that) is crap. And don't get me wrong, once the initial "fascination" with that Moog sound wore off and if I'd heard another "Lucky Man" solo one more time, I never really understood the continued fascination with synths "at that time" because let's face it, all you essentially had was sawtooth, square, pulse, triangle and sine waves. Filters were nothing to write home about as far as diversity.

Now, we make sounds with synths that you could only dream of 40 years ago. Heck, you couldn't even dream of them because you couldn't imagine them.

But that's all besides the point, because if you're going to point to piano, bass, violin, cello and whatever other "real" instruments you want to include on this list of "classic sounds" that have stood the test of time, then you might as well throw every synth ever made into the trash and we can all go home.

I think it was a good decision. I got the impression that they have not had much success recently, anyway.
And I like people who don't continue to do the same thing forever, but call it quits and move on. Life is only so long...

Thanks LinPlug for all the cool sounds and good deals all along the way these last several years...a real class act!...I am sad to see you go but your good sounds will live forever regardless of current trends...good luck in all your future endeavors!

Unsurprisingly really. Their plugins were liked, but weren't raved about. Same goes for DiscoDSP. It's a scary business.

Nice conclusion.
Cheers :)

I think it sounds more like a cash-grab disguised as an opportunity. After all, they're not going to offer support in the near future right?

Devil's advocate: Did the Albino debacle sour the situation? The way I see it both RP and LP lost out in that scrap. Albino was a staple in the bassmusic scene (dub, dubstep, DnB etc etc), and when all that went down, which became a bit of a public skirmish, it left a stain on both companies, but I feel it might have left a bit more of a blemish on LP. Them being the dev, most people I think would understand they have the power to pull the plug on a project if they didn't want to deal with it anymore (yes I know the actual details, let's not get into that again), so that may have resulted in a rather tough situation for LP, with people then rather spending money with companies that have not been in such a public battle. People generally forgive, but don't forget. Spend money with the company that did the unpredictable thing to an established synth line (not single handed of course), or the one that seems to be on the up and up? I know where my money would go! ...and yes, again, I'm not pointing fingers and it takes two to tango, but if you're part of that tango, no matter how you frame it, you still have part in, and own some of the blame (in the public eye) in spite of possible facts, which in turn hurt the company image... just brainfarting.

I was thinking about a truce between RP and LP, so some people who missed out could pick up the old faithful... but to be honest, I ran the demo last night, and the old girl doesn't really do it for me anymore. As is with the current iteration, Albino aint all that these days. Small GUI, ok-ish CPU, and good sound, but with a layout and architecture which I think hasn't dated all that well. Don't compare it to a moog and say "but look, the old ones still sound good and are so expensive blah blah blah"... it's not a hardware synth, it has to keep up with the times. Anyway. That's was far more than what I intended to write so bleh... off to make some noise. :tu:
