I suppose Kore isn't really a DAW but it is a host, miss that one.
Count me as another person who wishes Studio Vision Pro was still around, or even more precisely SVP's dedication to flexibility with time signatures etc.

Agreed. We will never forgive you, Gibson.DJBuddhaBear wrote: I don't have good things to say about Gibson.
Also for not letting other companies - mine included - continue working on the Opcode Music Standard (OMS), which led to huge problems for Apple software development around the year 2000.

EnergyXT 1.4
That was a really, really excellent concept.
Lame developer, though.

Yeah that's the reason I didn't mention it before as obviously it would have been my no.1 on this list - then again if people are mentioning Phrazor I guess it's valid.machinesworking wrote:I suppose Kore isn't really a DAW but it is a host, miss that one.

Not really a DAW - but a part of a DAW. I still miss the old IPS module from the early versions of Cubase. Totally weird and experiemental - and you rarely got anything useful out of it. But it was fun.

This was a revolutionary program! My God what it could've been today if it was still in development! Actually called to report a small bug once and they put Todor Fay on the line with me!...loldea-man wrote:Any love for Bars and Pipes?

Had to demo it. Seems actually pretty nice! Feels more like an idea sketchpad than a real daw though but I can imagine myself making full songs with it.
Except that it seems to be x86 only and my x64 plugins won't load. Delete.

V2 onwards were very different from V1, it was a complete rewrite with a different focus and feature set, and, to many folk who made a lot of use of XT 1.x, very distinctly not a replacement. What XT 1.x was, is indeed discontinued.Distorted Horizon wrote:http://www.energy-xt.com/index.phpinkwarp wrote:as far as i know, this is still being developed, latest version was out not so long ago..DuX wrote:EnergyXT 1.4

Time was when Jorgen was the best developer out there. Updates came out all the time, and bugs reported in the morning were sometimes fixed the same day. But he was young then and perhaps had very low outgoings, and probably enjoyed being paid for what was probably a hobby.DuX wrote:EnergyXT 1.4

But once he tried to make it pay as a full time profesional job,I would hazard a guess that the numbers were hard to add up.
Coupled to that is the sad fact of thieves who pirated his software and it must make a developer who perhaps has his own place to run,and perhaps a family to look after, think again about the viability of running their own business.
Work out how many copies of niche software at 38 euros it would take to live on. If he sold 50 copies a week it would only be 1900 euros, and probably that is an optomistic figure.Which goes some way to explain why he now works as a developer for someone else (or so I understand) and Energy-xt has come to a stand still.
Having said all that,it would be the decent thing to do to inform his customers of the current state of affairs and the likely hood of any further development.
Such a message would cost him zilch and a few minutes of his time.
