So much talk here, I had to watch the video. I agree on many points but the conclusion.
Firstly, we are talking audio, and as far as I know, nobody died from choosing the wrong compressor for the task.
Secondly, we ARE talking audio and if something changes the sound and I can hear that then the only thing I care is whether I like it or not.
Personally, I would advise against purchasing audio plugin only if I knew that the company did something wrong.
Yeah, and the volume difference was indeed apparent. Also, the main appeal of SSL type compressors is auto-release, and he didn't even test that.

The video, made by an idiot for an idiotic reason.
I remember the day the "glue" turned up, it was announced by Andy and we all expected something special, and tbh it was exactly that. But not ONCE do I remember anyone saying this compressor would magically glue all aspects of anything together.
I've never heard the term "Glue compression" before this video. Sometimes you want channels or aspects of your track to "glue" together and sound symbiotic, but not always can that be achieved by compression, in fact it's more likely EQ.
I don't understand his point in this video, other than to appear like he's making a point when in fact he isn't.
I was forced to sell my copy of the Glue a long time ago, and haven't been able to repurchase it, but I would, not because it's a magic compressor that glues everything together, because it's a damn fine compressor that I actually used a hell of a lot. It did glue things together, sometimes by chance, other times by design. I don't use a compressor just because I expect it to glue things, i use it because I trusted it or wanted it there. I used Waves Ren Comp too, and COMPassion, and loads of others from Nomad Factory etc, and they can glue things together too. I loved the Glue for it's speed. Was one of the fastest compressors I knew of. (Rocket being the fastest)
The Glue is a lovely compressor, and ive I ever got back into production in a big way id buy it again. But this guy is missing the point and being hyper analytical for no real reason.

I don't have youtube account. People are disgusting in their ignorance.
Can somehow from here at least post there telling him not that he is an idiot and moron (he truly is) but that he completely missed a point let alone did proper calibration, level metering or plugin usage alone.
And very likely he does not even know what "glue" mean in this very example (nowhere he said anything about levels in a mix being more cohesive or sort like that...i guess he doesn't even know what levels or well balanced mixes are)
Man i truly hope Andy or developers like that does not get scared by weirdos like that dude.
i completely share 100% same accidose view on this one
(that's offtopic no disrespect intended - truly)

So the Glue update is out of Beta status and is now official update, I see

The Scream is still in Beta. The latest releases of all plugins are solid for production work, but The Scream still needs presets and a manual and one more little feature (mod load / save) till I'll take it out of beta.zvenx wrote:as has his newest plugin..thanksMogwaiBoy wrote:So the Glue update is out of Beta status and is now official update, I see

Hi Andy,
Apologies if this has already been asked.
Do you have any plans to make The Glue compatible with the Pro Tools "Dynamics Metering" feature?

I wasn't aware of the feature, but if it's a matter of calling a function per process block to report the dB compression then it should be easily added as I already calculate this for my own GUI (the peak and RMS compression amounts with limited hold time on the peak). I'll post to the AAX developer forum asking about it.jackson881 wrote:Hi Andy,

I don't think he is completely wrong with such a "glue compressor", because this can be achieved with every good compressor. But IMO he hasn't understood the idea of such compression. It's not to achieve some loudness or for big gain reduction or to make a track punchy. In most cases you will not hear the compressor working.

I like how he says the Ableton Glue compressor almost looks the same. He's using the name of Andys compressor to claim it's marketed as special because it's Glue. So if he had named it the metal would he of proved on youtube it contains no metal?

The video guy is just so premenstrual. The opening seconds were so incredibly offputting. Aside from being clueless about audio, he clearly doesn't get how he comes across. At least youtube gives him something to do.

Almost every AAX compressor I own, whether from a small or large developer, utilizes the dynamics metering feature. So, hopefully it is easy to implement.andy-cytomic wrote: I wasn't aware of the feature, but if it's a matter of calling a function per process block to report the dB compression then it should be easily added as I already calculate this for my own GUI (the peak and RMS compression amounts with limited hold time on the peak). Thank you for being willing to investigate!
Fingers crossed that it is a simple thing to add.
