If you are budget conscious and are looking at long term usage, try Fl studio , It has matured nicely since its early days and you only pay for the daw ONCE, all future version updates are FREE FOR LIFE!!!

Reaper is a good alternative as well,( although its not free and you do pay for each major version) , They don't have cumbersome copy protection though as they rely on the honesty of the customer to poney up. go figure.( all you will get is a gentle reminder every so often if you don't do the honourable thing)

About the only thing that I can say in waveforms/tracktions favour is the minimalist footprint of the DAW. It is a capable DAW despite its relatively small size. so yeah if your wanting to stick with Tracktion, hold onto t5, despite anything you may hear to the contrary it does work well on windows 10(both 32 bit and 64 bit)
I think I'll spend a few hours today on the forums for your DAWS of choice recommending that people use other DAWs.
[W10-64, T5/6/7/W8/9/10/11/12/13, 32(to W8)&64 all, Spike],[W7-32, T5/6/7/W8, Gina16] everything underused.

Thanks! I'm liking the UI as well. Seems very easy to understand signal flow. Now I just have to wade through the ocean of VSTs! Trying to find good ones and free (for now) takes some time and patience.
Run down of Free VSTs you might want ;

On that first list I would recommend the Ample Sound Guitar M II Lite. That is really good and includes a strummer. Their free P-Bass is worth getting as well. Ample makes some great guitar samples!

And on that list of 12 synths, I will recommend OBXd, TAL-NoiseMaker, u-he Tyrell, Synth1, and Tone2 FireBird 2 (32-bit only).

I do wish FireBird 2 was available in 64-bit because I love the sounds that thing can make. It is different from every other synth I have, and would probably buy it if it was available in 64-bit. Fortunately I have a couple of 64-bit DAWs that automatically bridge, so that is one of the few 32-bit plugs that I still run. :tu:
