Just saw the news and it looks really bad. Are your houses flooded too?

The crisis at our apartment building de-escalated overnight. Yesterday, we had about 1-2 feet of rushing water coming down our street, blocking off all sidewalks and escape routes. It really brought our community together, as people were sharing food and booze, walking each other's dogs, setting up temporary dog relief areas on balconies, watching apartments for neighbors stranded out-of-town, etc. Despite the horrible situation, I've been amazed at how quickly everyone came together as family.

People just a block south of our apartment were not as fortunate. Our apartment is located just a few blocks away from Brays Bayou in the Braeswood Place neighborhood, which has been one of the worst locations in the flood. You'll see a lot of "Braesmain," "Braeswood," and similar names in the news. Meyerland was hit especially bad, and it's just down the bayou from us.

The rains in this area have been kinder today, but the situation at Buffalo Bayou has steadily gotten worse. The intentional opening of the Addicks and Barker reservoirs is going to flood more areas today to prevent even more widespread destruction.

It's just an impossible situation. My family and I are safe, so I am grateful for that.

best of luck to you! so challenging. i hope people hold on to that coming together vibe for a long time.. it'll take a long time for people to recover.

Thank you, everyone, for the messages of support and concern. I believe that we are now through the storm. The flood waters receded from our street, and the sun is out again for the first time since Friday or Saturday.

In much better news, SpecOps is officially in a release candidate state as of today. We've sent the installers out to testers. The response has been fantastic, and we have over 200 artist presets ready for release. It's looking like we will be able to finally release this in about two weeks.

Glad to hear things are looking to get better soon.
And perfect timing with SpecOps, just in time for payday.

Take care

It turns out we actually are putting a clock on $29 upgrade deal. Sorry I mislead you in my previous message -- there were some crossed wires here at PA. Anyway, the headline is that the $29 upgrade deal for people who got a free Indent 1.0 license does expire on September 22, so don't miss out!

Pleased to see things have improved Michael. I appreciate there's gonna be a difficult road ahead for the next few months or more.

Noticed your acknowledgement in the preface of Curtis Roads' latest book by-the-by. I remember doing a double-take when G8 came with an endorsement from him a few years back.

Thanks! He was my academic advisor. He's a great guy. He doesn't use a lot of plug-ins, so I was very surprised when he endorsed G8.

I went to a composition seminar Roads presented at CNMAT (UC Berkeley) a few years ago. He said he did most of the composition on the single-sample level in Adobe Audition using FabFilter plugins, rather than software he had created.

BTW hope things are drying out down there!
