I dont see what everyone's problem is. (Who has t-racks already)
The price with Jampoints would be $70 (30% off). Its not a huge discount, but IK never really has worked in that fashion (Syntronik & MODO bass have been the exceptions).
Here is the thing though. If you wait & have patience, IK will DEFINITELY have a free or discounted version down the line. That is pretty much their history. However I do agree.. that for those who have invested lots of $$ into T-racks 50% without the jampoints would be much more attractive.

If you don't want the temptation, you can stick to the other T-RackS 5 MAX specific link to be safe, I supposeDarkStar wrote:@ Peter: Got it, thank you.
And that new "Crossgrade/Upgrade" section in the User Area looks very handy (and tempting).

Well.... that 30% discount only works if you actually still have a sizeable amount of JamPoints left over. You make it sound like every current owner gets a guaranteed discount.
And you CAN of course influence the exchange rate, because you could be asking a lower euro price for the same dollar amount, like lots of companies do ($99/€85 at current exchange rates).
So for me, like Frank, it's still 14% higher due to exchange rate and another 21% higher due to VAT. That last one, you can't do anything about obviously, but still... That comes to €120.99 before JamPoints, which amounts to around $138. That's 38% more expensive than paying the dollar price.
I'll have to think long and hard about this. The new modules look cool, though.

To the contrary; those who have invested more into T-RackS have the most to complain about. See, what IK now call 'upgrades' are actually crossgrades. It didn't always work this way. The Grand and Deluxe upgrades actually made sense, because you had to own products up to a certain tier to be eligible. Now anyone who has spent €99 gets the exact same pricing, and the same 30% discount option. Which is fantastic to new users. You can get massive discounts on great bundles. However, if you already own stuff, you pay the same 'upgrade' price as someone who owns nothing in a bundle, and despite how Peter tried to spin it, almost everyone who has bought from IK gets the same 30% jampoints discount.Saukar30 wrote:I dont see what everyone's problem is. So those who are more invested are getting the least value from upgrade pricing. Sorry it's not as obvious to you as it is to those complaining. I was always good at maths, so it's clear as crystal.

30% discount is based on JamPoints, which are not available especially for this product, but are something IK have opted for in general. Please think of people who might not have enough JamPoints because they have already spent them otherwise. It's not that IK hands out 30% off on T-RackS 5 for existing customers in general, some loyal customers might be out of luck here.Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:30% additional discount is quite a bit (almost one third off additionally) for our long-term customers to get, which new users cannot. I, or IK to be more precise, cannot control the fact that your government charges taxes nor control exchange rates - we aren't fans of those things either but we must comply with the law. I don't believe that those factors should be a first impression of IK, but an impression of your government. We are offering up to 30% off additionally for loyal customers - from an already low price.FrankLaVerne wrote:First of all, for me it's roughly 20% more given the current currency exchange (because I'd pay Euro), plus 19% VAT, which doesn't seem that verly low any more. Also, what to do when there are no more JamPoints left, which, assuming the worst possible situation, leaves us with 119€ for a UI update, provided of course that you pre-order! After that it'll be 178,49€ plus VAT, which for me would be 212€. Not the best first impression ...
Also I am fully aware that you are not in control of or fan of any taxes (who is anyway). What I wanted to point out in this regard is not about the taxes, but that the price offered more than doubles (including all additional costs) if you don't have JamPoints and cannot afford to preorder within the next 4-6 weeks, while I only like to get the UI overhaul, not the extra goodies. Since the already low price is time limited, I am forced to pre-order and have enough JamPoints - THIS is the impression IK leaves, not my government.
Don't get me wrong (and you most likely will): 200€ for the whole T-RackS suite as an update price is a great offer, the 100€ for the basic update is okay, taking all the work of your development department into account. But what if I'd like not to choose one of two options created by the sales and distributon department, but opt in for a UI upgrade without the extra plugins, for e.g. €49.99?
I fully get that it's impossible to please every customer, all I am saying is that a more diverse upgrade path would've been a better option for everyone involved, and that simply defending the current price policy by all means is a weak thing to do.

Can non-US people pay in Dollars? $99 does not equal €99.Peter - IK Multimedia wrote: Getting an already-low-priced $/€99.99 offer for as low as $/€69.99 is the reward. JamPoints you accrue are a reward program for loyal customers.

Yes, thanks to various government requirements, that is an additional cost to you thanks to them and we do not gain from that tax. I hope that changes someday as the rate is very high in some countries.J4R1O wrote:+ VAT 16.80 € = 86.79 €Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:Getting an already-low-priced $/€99.99 offer for as low as $/€69.99 is the reward. Not on our site, as we follow the law so we can continue to be in business for at least another 20+ years and even US dealers will have to charge the appropriate tax for your location so bear that in mind. I just seen that while you can buy T-Racks 5 MAX for $330, T-Racks 4 MAX (on sale) is $400 if you never bought them before.
Upgrade T-Racks5 MAX = $200 from ANY product worth a $100. So you can have Syntronik, Amplitube or Modo Bass or 1 of IK's hardware & still come out spending less than someone who has invested say $500 on just T-Racks stuff.
I was just looking at the cheaper end of the scale... but yes...the higher up you go it does seem like it's a slap to existing users of T-Racks who have MAX or the Grand version.

I'm not against paying tax. My local currency is £ not €, so why do I have to pay in €?Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:Not on our site, as we follow the law so we can continue to be in business for at least another 20+ years and even US dealers will have to charge the appropriate tax for your location so bear that in mind. An upgrade price is an upgrade price. Is a special for those who OWN already the product. Jam Points or no Jam Points. A special price is available to anyone, and ANY IK user may have Jam Points. In the limit, and as FrankLaVerne pointed, a non-T-Racks user may benefit of the special 69 price while a T-Racks user can't (besides, the special price is time limited, while an upgrade price can be used at anytime).
THERE IS NO UPGRADE PRICE - it's as simple as that. IK chose to create a special introductory price - it's up to you. But existing users were forgotten. The ay are treated as any other user. This isn't fair and isn't the common practive of the industry.
What's worse. Someone that don't own a single T-Racks plug-in can get ALL of the existing ones PLUS 4 new ones PLUS a new application, all for 139,00 (using 30% Jam Points). A user that has ALL the plug-ins and just wants the new version of the shell and has no Jam Points must pay 99 (just 40 less). How is this a "reward" for existing T-Racks users?FrankLaVerne wrote: Don't get me wrong (and you most likely will): 200€ for the whole T-RackS suite as an update price is a great offer, the 100€ for the basic update is okay, taking all the work of your development department into account. Right now I own T-Racks 4 MAX and also bought Saturator X (which I think is the one thing that wasn't in the MAX bundle).
Is the $99 T-TRacks 5 update the one I'm looking for to have everything?

For those who are not happy with the pricing options available during the pre-order period, I understand and you are free to wait to see about a free/CS version and a la carte pricing but I can assure you that the pre-order options are there to be the lowest available from us for a while. If you'd like only the new GUI and likely limited functionality, you can wait and run your existing T-RackS gear in that version. For the full functionality and four new modules, the pre-order pricing is designed to simplify the process based on coming from the many many versions of T-RackS that have been available in the past, whilst offering a great low price to everybody who pre-orders and the ability to get (and I use the following phrase when I mention this, so I'm in no way acting like everybody has 30+ JamPoints even in previous posts) up to 30% additional discount using JamPoints if you have them from previous purchases. Previous customers also have the option of the T-RackS 5 MAX upgrade if they have purchased a product worth $/€99s99 or up.
I understand that some may not like that AmpliTube users, for example, can get a great deal on T-RackS 5 too but we felt that an inclusive yet simplified pre-order pricing structure would work best and that most users would not be unhappy if some other IK users - or even new users at $/€99.99 - may also get a good deal. If T-RackS 5 is worth the pre-order price (with any applicable discounts via JamPoints or for MAX eligibility) I hope it doesn't matter in the end if someone else is able to get a similar deal and that the price you would pay is equal to or less than T-RackS 5 is worth to you specifically.
You should also not be left without any JamPoints. If someone had 30 JamPoints and recently used them on a 99.99 product, they would still get 5 JamPoints for that purchase which means they'd still get $5 off T-RackS 5.
