Perhaps I should clarify: Straightaway dropoff, not roll-off like most plugins I have with OS exhibit.Burillo wrote:you can't do oversampling without that high-end roll-off. that's anti-aliasing filter. if you don't do it, you'll have aliasing when downsampling.

The DSP code wasn't redone for the v4 plugins. The framework in which they run has been updated (since they will be working within the TR5 framework, this is a necessary change of course). No need to buy upgrades for anything you already have. Hope that helps.evilantal wrote:I was under the assumption that that referred to hosting the plugins/modules in the standalone T-RackS application, which now supports higher sampling rates. It is the standalone application that has the upgraded audio engine, not the plugins themselves.zvenx wrote:I was asking you how you read it and interpreted the :
"The new audio engine improvements apply to both, where appropriate (for example where oversampling improvements would give actual benefit, it will affect both standalone and single plugins)."
For me it just added to the ambiguity of his response, even after I considered that indeed the framework may have changed......
I still think a well worded FAQ would be the best solution.
rsp
Now I'm not so sure.... If the single plugins themselves are also updated, would that then mean that we need to buy upgrades for all the plugins that have oversampling?
Just when I think I get it, an answer is given or some information comes forward that throws me off again.
This is some confusing product release...

So it isn't lost:
Will we be able to purchase individual updates to this new version or we will have to purchase these plugins all over again.

So I don't have to purchase any upgrade to what I have already, and there will be a newer v4 (we are at 4.10 now I think) that will give me better oversampling for those that do oversampling and better GUI for all?

There are no plans to update 4.x for any oversampling improvements. These improvements are part of T-RackS 5 and will carry forward there.zvenx wrote: I think you answered my question. Succinctly too![]()

You don't need to repurchase any plugins or any updates. These plugins will work with T-RackS 5 (in Standalone, plugin shell/suite, and as singles with the new GUI, etc).zvenx wrote:So it isn't lost:

Does that mean we get our v5 to our single plugins free?

Really must be me.
So I use them (occasionally) as single plugins in Cubase.
I will get newer versions that will give me the GUI changes that I can run as single plugins in Cubase without additional cost?

the code wasn't redone - meaning, no changes on the DSP side. however, the framework has been updated, so whatever common code they may share (including oversampling), has been recoded. when Peter refers to "v4 plugins" in this case, he doesn't mean "plugins that have been released up until v4 timeframe", he literally means "versions of plugins as they exist in v4". it's obvious from the context what exactly he's talking about - no need to assume the most improbable and unlikely answer.
you can think of it like this: you might have amp emulations in Amplitube 3 vs. Amplitube 4, and Amplitube 4 has received an improved cab sim. all amps in Amplitube 4, including those existing since Amplitube 2 days, have their cabs improved, but that only applies to amp models as they are represented in Amplitube 4 - their Amplitube 3 versions stay as they were and don't receive the same updates. think of the new cab section as "the underlying framework" in case of T-Racks - plugins stay as they are (aside from improved oversampling), and you can use them without paying for upgrade to T-Racks 5, but you won't get access to new gear and new features.
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

yes but what am I downloading to get the improved GUI?
Surely they can't automatically appear on my computer....I must download something to get these improved GUI....
Exactly in your answer, I won't get the improvements in Amp2 and 3 unless I purchase/download/upgrade to 4. no?
In other words my versions are frozen, and I own't get the new GUI, unless I purchase into T-RackS 5

You would download T-RackS 5... Just like with AmpliTube 4 in Burillo's example. We haven't updated individual plugins in Custom Shop products in a long while. You install the main application and it updates the plugins and shell.zvenx wrote:yes but what am I downloading to get the improved GUI?

Or it will?
So re-reading Burilo, that is a yes. I will get (in October) T-RackS 5 in my account to download free and have access to the same plugins I currently have bought license for....
think I am clear now.
thanks
