T-RackS 5 (5.0.1 update,information about free CS version, release date countdown added)

Let's say I have White2A (TR4 version) and have bought TR5. I would then have the 4 new processors and the TR5-equivalent of White2A as well.

My guess is that they are separate plug-in files and only the TR5-equivalent of White2A would be updated; the TR4 version would not. (I base this on looking back at TR4 and TR3; the Classic processors are at v4.10 (May 2016) and the TR3 is v3.5.1 (October 2011).

That would be my guess as well...so that would be a definite difference....

Next use case... White2A isn't included in the most basic €99.99 T-RackS 5 package, but I own the T-RackS 4 version. Would my plugin then still be updated when a new version arrives if I buy that basic package, even though I don't own T-RackS 5 Deluxe/MAX in which it is included?

Would be helpful to have those kinds of questions answered definitively.

Sort of, yes.

There would be 2 White2A plug-ins available to your host: "T-RackS CS White2A" (that is, the existing TR4 version) and "T-RackS 5 White2A" (or whatever it turns out to be named, the TR5 version). As I understand it, the first is exactly the same as it is today, and the second is the 'updated' version.

Will I be eligible for plugin updates for my v4 plugins that are not included in the v5 package I purchase?

Example... I have White2A, I buy the €99.99 T-RackS 5 package which doesn't include White2A, a new version of White2A comes out.
Will I be eligible for the update as a T-RackS 5 owner (in whatever form) or would I have had to buy the White2A as part of a T-RackS 5 package (Deluxe or MAX)?

You will still have those T-RackS plug-ins and Custom Shop available. All of your current projects will continue to load them. In addition you will have the T-RackS 5-equivalents of your plug-ins available, for use in T-RackS 5 standalone, the plug-in suite or as individual plug-ins.

The implication here is that if you decide to sell your TR4 products (after getting TR5) then you will lose the backwards compatibility for projects that used the TR4 products. For me that's not enough of an issue to prevent me from selling them but for some of you who use TR a lot might want to keep the TR4's so your projects open correctly.

Well, yes, of course. If you sell the TR4 plug-ins then those project using them will not load correctly. Unless you have previously migrated the projects from using the TR4 plug-ins to usinf the TR5-equivalent plug-ins (Peter is checking up on the method).

As for updates to the TR4 plug-ins:
Well, the TR3.xx updates stopped when TR CS (i.e. TR4.00) was released, so I would not expect the TR4 plug-ins themselves to be updated. However their TR5-equivalents may well be updated in the future.

If you have specific TR4 bugs then please report them to IK Multimedia Technical support and ask them when they will be fixed in TR4.

I think I'll be waiting patiently for the free TR5 CS version, since...

...I own all plugins except Saturator X
...I have no need for the standalone mastering application or the plugin chainer
...the 4 new plugins aren't particularly interesting to me
...the free CS version will also update all my owned plugins to "v5"

Anyone in the same boat?

Hi Peter... Thanks for making this happen. IK reversed the paypal charges for the basic version at your request and I ordered the TrackS 5 Max bundle. I have been a member of KVR since 2001 (earlier with a different user name).. Having IK present and active here is extremely valuable.

I purchased the Tracks 5 basic bundle and got confirmation that the order was accepted... after reading through the thread I am thinking that the Max bundle is the way to go ( I misunderstood some information that you have since clarified). I am eligible for the crossgrade price for Max which I failed to notice. If I wanted to change my order to the Max bundle and pay the difference would that be possible now?

Thanks ... the product looks fantastic and I really appreciated being able to use Jam points and getting promotional advance pricing. I have spent this much money and more on a single plugin (just yesterday in fact) let alone a suite of plugins, metering, and ability to burn track playlists etc. From where I sit this is tremendous value.- Scotty

Hmm... Let's see: Imagine you are the one pulling the strings of IK Multimedia. Would you disclose that information before the sales period end and the price goes up (or even shortly after that)?

So T-Racks 4 singles owners will gain free access to V5 of those singles of day one .. but at some point there will be a cutoff as further updates are released - did I get that right?
