Kontakt is a single product. Komplete is a bundle of products that includes Kontakt.

As a matter of fact, I do have Kontakt installed, and when I run it, there is nothing in it.

Isn't Kontakt a sampler? What can I do with an empty sampler?

When you bought Kontakt, you'll have got the content that comes with it. Did you buy it boxed, or as a download from the NI shop?

When you buy it, it comes with content.

You probably installed the Kontakt without the librairies coming with it. If you bought Kontakt, in NI native access there is a second download to install the librairies coming with Kontakt. Try those they might suit your needs. Personnaly I don't need more but you might depending on what you are working on.

If you already have Kontakt you can upgrade to Komplete for less and there is also a time of the year when the upgrade is 50% off.

If that's what's happening with just one drumset, then I don't think I'll be able to run all the fancy libraries that come with Kontakt.

I dont know what are the requirements for your drums but Maybe try something loke Mdrummersmall its free and decent. If you need stelar samples it might not cut it. Yeah some Kontakt libs take lots of ressources.

I hated Logic for its heavyness and gained a lot of power going to Reaper. I used to bounce in place all over the place in Logic that might be your solution.

Drummic'a gives you a cheap upgrade to Kontakt, which gives you a cheap upgrade to Komplete.

For drums, you might want to check out Addictive Drums 2 Custom, which comes with three 'AdPaks', which are drumkits -- I'd recommend thinking about Fairfax 1, Fairfax 2, and United Pop from what you've said. Cost is $125 at PluginDiscounts after you log into your account. Ending soon, but it'll roll around again.

You can likely pick up Lounge Lizard Player 4 real cheap in the Market Place here, for your electric piano sound. Other good ones exist.

And SynthMaster One, Blue II, and Predator are all worth considering, as well as others mentioned above, for good all-around synths.

This stuff is endless, of course...

Logic X has a modelled EP already. LL4 is good but I'd question whether it's a necessary change. The main objection to the Logic one is that's it too bright and clean, but it's pretty straightforward to dirty up. LL4 (the full version in this case) has more control over the hammer and fork models. But by the time it's been run through an amp sim and speaker combo, there isn't likely to be much of a difference.

Sounds reasonable. I'm a guitarist, not a keyboard guy, so I 'play' through JamOrigin's MIDI Guitar 2. I have about a half a dozen Rhodes and Wurli's, and different ones sound better to me on different days.

When I was fooling around last night, Waves' Electric 88 and Electric 200 were where I ended up.

As for your results: you certainly have more than enough with Logic to make great sounding music, so yes it is the mixing skills. Nevertheless if you want to try plugins Komplete select seems a good point to start, you get a Synth (massive), a piano, an electric piano, some drums and other stuff, I think it is a great starting point to compare the logic instruments with third party stuff.
