Live 9 Magnetic - 7%
Live 9 Modnetic - 2% - greatly improved CPU when compared to M4l version which is why i am asking these questions.

Can you just tell me how long does it take for you to load Magnetic on Live 10 (not Live 9) when you run Live 10 for the first time after booting to your operating system. Please and thank you. Asking because i was VERY annoyed by M4L plugin loading times. Example Magnetic is loading for around 8-10 seconds for the first time after booting and running Live while Modnetic (vst version) was loading in 1 second.
Keep in mind that my example was for 3 of them. Saying that, it's possible that there is some part of the hit that is not related to CPU frequency that got better. Then faster CPUs would get more improvement - they would have had more overhead before, and less now - would need to see more systems to know for sure.

I don't remember an exact time (and I'd have to reboot to find that exact sequence out, not ready to do that at the moment :) but just anecdotally, when I loaded it in Live 10, the time wasn't long enough for me to notice, whereas when I switched back to Live 9 to try it, the wait annoyed me. It's significantly shorter, and short enough to not be a nuisance for any of the M4L devices I've instantiated.

So how are you finding the new global show/hide automation toggle?

Personally, I find it being a step back. In my music, I don't have a lot of tracks - typically 20-30 - but almost each of them has several lines of automation: sometimes 1, sometimes 10. In Live 9 I could have most tracks collapsed to 1-unit size, 2-3 expanded so that I can see the waveform / MIDI notes and one completely expanded with automation visible. Now, in Live 10 Beta that's not possible, because once the global show automation toggle is on, it shows all automation lanes for all tracks taller than 1 unit. Obviously one can hide some of the lines, by clicking 'x', but then when you want it back you need to right-click, select 'show all automation lanes', hide the ones you don't want, etc.

I think the per-track hide/show automation toggle should be restored.

Totally chuffed to get live 10 beta email this morning swiftly deflated after experiencing the tiny thin font used.

I really have no idea why Ableton would do this unless the developers work purely on laptops because on large displays the fonts are barely readable.

Are you sure? I mean i am looking at youtube videos and they all mostly have VERY readable font. Improved.

AFAIK now there exist some kind of HDPi mode or something which can improve appearance? Someone else will correct me but i am sure Ableton would never made it a worse experience. Hopefully i am right.

Well, I'm on PC (Surface Pro 4) and while Live 10 solved one issue - a choice between blurry UI & correct-size VSTs vs. sharp UI & tiny VSTs - I somehow feel like the new GUI is somehow less comfortable. I think it's a combination of more muted color palette and thinner lines & fonts. I'll post comparison screens in the evening.

LOL. I hear you brother. And I'm always looking for ways to use fewer. But groups within groups certainly helps reduce the clutter. Or will. I don't have the beta.

Was anybody able to install any of the 5 new packs?

Hah! Spoke too soon. Just got it. Overall, I like my five minutes with it and the look. One thing right off the bat, they really, really need to scale the preferences dialog.
