Ah, thanks for mentioning. Tested a bit. This only happens on Windows. And only in some hosts. Could see the empty squares in Studio One and Bitwig, but not in Reaper. I made a bug ticket for it now.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote:One last thing...and this has been a very minor issue with every U-he synth's save dialog box: when saving a preset, clicking the "Tab" key inserts five empty spaces. I'd much prefer it tabbed the cursor to the next section of the window (e.g. from the Enter Preset Name to Author fields). This will also prevent all those empty squares in the preset information windows since the Browser doesn't know what to do with a tab character.

Okay, thanks for the info. Though I'm not sure how my own personal tags can be too subjective. Have a predefined set for NKS users (I'm not one) and a User set. Just like folders.hakey wrote:It's been discussed elsewhere but it's not going to happen - too subjective, potentially confusing, doesn't fit the NKS system.Aspects of Tone wrote:I've looked through this thread and, unless I've missed it, there doesn't seem to be any discussion of user defined tags.
Does no-one want this?
Nice idea but I don't think so, because then I'd want get into adding mutliple keywords to multiple presets, browsing by keyword, smart keyword folders, etc. And that then would be just the same as tagginghakey wrote:Adding keywords in the preset description box, which can then be returned in browser searches, effectively gives the same function as user defined tags?
Anyway, if it has already been discussed, and rejected by the u-he team then that's that

Well, I argued for user defined tags, but I get the counter argument - adding tags quickly becomes complicated and unwieldy.
And I don't think there's the demand anyway. It's just you and me.

I think everyone is coming from the side of preset bank developers with presets coming from all different places/people. In that case some sort of structure is definitely required. Hunting around the web it seems that the NKS system is already there (not an NI product user so wasn't aware of it). So I can see the sense in using that as the basis.
I just wanted user defined tags for my personal use, selfish I know

You can use them in preset info, that data is also searchable.

Yes that was suggested. But it doesn't have the flexibility of tags. e.g. multiple presets at once.EvilDragon wrote:You can use them in preset info, that data is also searchable.
No worries though. Once everything else has settled down user defined tags may come along

Nope, there are various small glitches in connection with the restore function, but that is none of them.Chris-S wrote:Is this theSome small issues with preset restore function
You just explained the functionality of the restore preset.Chris-S wrote:When scrolling through the presets with < and > :

The restore preset is the last preset you loaded before you left the synth or the tweaks page and entered the preset browser page.
Suppose you have a preset loaded but you want to check the library if there is a similar sounding preset which suits your track better. You search and click through various presets, but don't find a better match.
Now you want to continue with the original preset, but wait, which one was it again? Ah right, just click restore and it will reload that preset for you.

I have a suggestion on how to improve usability of the search.
When I have a folder selected in the folder list, I kind of expect that by using the search field I will start searching within that selected folder. Not globally. If the search would behave that way, you don't need to complicate things by hiding other folders from view and showing that gray toolbar with foldername. Because user will see in the folder list which folder is selected, as well as its context. The global search mode could be enabled automatically if no folder is selected in the folder list or by clicking a dedicated button in the search field that would 1) indicate which mode is currently in use; 2) would allow fast switching between the modes. The cost of error of starting search in the wrong mode is very low that way.
Here's a rough mockup of what I mean:

Actually in Komplete Kontrol (NKS) you can add user defined tags - and it's a bloody nightmare. You end up with duplication (eg Pads, Pad, Bass, basses etc) and a million esoteric variations on the same thing as well as tags that make no sense except to the person who put them there. Honestly adding this would just create an unusable and cluttered system.hakey wrote:Well, I argued for user defined tags, but I get the counter argument - adding tags quickly becomes complicated and unwieldy.

I find this much more intuitive than the current Folder Search functionality.drzhnn wrote:I have a suggestion on how to improve usability of the search.

Yup. I see the problem. Adding suitable keywords in the preset description works for me. My only suggestion here is that of prefixing those keywords with a hashtag, which would be a tidy and useful (I think) convention.aMUSEd wrote:[Actually in Komplete Kontrol (NKS) you can add user defined tags - and it's a bloody nightmare. But isn't this down to the implementation? User tags shouldn't be mixed up with the pre-defined ones. Or you get the mess your talking about. As Urs said previously, user tags should remain local. This allows a user to have their own tagging system if they like. But preset libraries only contain tags from the pre-defined list.aMUSEd wrote:Actually in Komplete Kontrol (NKS) you can add user defined tags - and it's a bloody nightmare. Whether it's possible to do this without a lot of extra work I don't know. But I bet the u-he team could come up with a way to keep user defined tags seperate from the 'offical' predefined set

First of all thank you for browser update, i like it! But i have some things i dont like:
1. If you double click on the directory it doesnt open the three but goes in to the three.
2. Why the Tags are needed in directory mode if you can switch between folder search and tag search
