sse3 came out on intel cpus in 2004 (as in pentium4 era!) - which means ANY inel cpu that is core2duo/core2quad OR i5/i7 will support at least SSE3plexuss wrote:Can you throw us non-computer science guys a bone about this sse or whatever thing? I'm a musician. I don't want to google my brains out trying to figure out what architecture or whatever my machine is to determine if I can install Breeze 2. Can someone help out with this pretty please? (2c audio, come on now with this... you can do better, no?)
AVX came out on the sandybridge intel family - so that’s i7-2600 and i5-2500 and later
so if you have a i5/i7 with the old 3 digit model codes it will only support SSE3, if you have an i5/i7 with a 4 digit model code it will do AVX
As it stands now given that breeze2 supports both avx and sse3 unless you’re running a 13+ year old pentium4 you should be good to go
