When I first tried Spectral I wasn't too impressed. I kept reading this thread and some people were talking about some of the unique features and character of Spectral. So I gave it a second look. I discovered its value, for me. If I hadn't given it a closer look/listen, because of positive comments people were making, I would have missed the deal maybe. I weighed a) I'd be stuck with it and b) it eventually wouldn't work with updated OSs and DAWs. I decided if I got 2 years use out of it that would be fine. I don't update my music machine that often and at this point if none of the software ever got updated I'd be fine until my dying breath. I'll keep updating but weight the impact as I go. So I felt I would get $50 worth out of Spectral. But it wasn't an obvious contender....
