Yeah, I don't think it's all VST3 plugins though as I have tested it with some.
If there's some specific ones that are not working correctly we can look in to them and see if it's us or the plugin at fault.

The very fact that the W8 edit files are XML has enabled me to recover ones that fail to load up in the DAW by way of loading them up in a text editor and making some careful edits or removals (after making a backup copy of the original edit file, of course).

Presonus Studio One also stores project configuration data in XML files (wrapped within a zip archive), and I have needed to clean up corrupted projects in that DAW as well that could not be rectified in any other way without editing out the bogus sections from the XML configuration.

Although you can do this, if a plugin is consistently crashing, Waveform should alert you to this and disable it the next time you load the app. This means you can load the Edit and remove the problematic plugin whilst it's disabled. This should be easier than manually editing the XML.

Yes, it certainly is much easier to fix problems from within the DAW. W8 offers to disable problematic plugins on restart. :)

And for those times when I cannot seem to fix a problem from within the DAW (e.g. orphaned channels in the mixer console of Studio One that cannot be deleted), it still is reassuring to know that I can always resort to editing the XML when all else fails. :tu:
