Million dollar question, will they end up integrating elastique timestretch to the sampler? That would be so amazing!

It's great to see the FM-4 will also get expanded view. I always appreciated that synth as some of the presets are awesome, but lack of any visual feedback always discouraged me to use it extensively for my own sound design.

And for me (ok i can miss some spare money) this is almost a 3.0 update.
So when its in my one year update plan im happy, but wouldnt be THAT dissapointed. I wouldnt mind to pay.

Really happy too, this synh looks fun to use, a great addition.

Funny that i was just thinking about something like stack voice, as per Falcon synth, and they come with something like this.

I will pay £183 for my Live 10 update and with that given past releases I will probably get 4-5 years of point releases for free. I upgraded to Bitwig version 2 because I wanted the modulators but was very sceptical about their 'machine gun' updates promise so waited about 4 months after the release date for Bitwig v2 before I upgraded to see if they made good on their promise.

I think given the way the updates have rolled out the past year I won't be upgrading again after this point release until such time enough new functionality has been built in to warrant a renewal on price.

And you will only get a few bug fixes during this time...

I think given the way the updates have rolled out the past year I won't be upgrading again after this point release until such time enough new functionality has been built in to warrant a renewal on price.

And this is how it has to be. That's the initial idea of new price model.

I think the 5 years from 9 to 10 is something of an aberration. In that time there was Push 1 and Push 2 which brought a lot of revenue. But now many Live users already have a Push so my guess, and of course we are just speculating here, is that it will be 2 years until a paid Live 11 upgrade is announced.

That is the case for every single person... they will decide when there is enough functionality to warrant paying the upgrade price. Good to have that choice!

Same applies to Bitwig given their performance over the past year but should users not upgrade then they are saddled with the bugs and pretty much forced to upgrade which in the Live 9 model isn't penalised by a financial outlay if the bugs seriously affect performance of their DAW. Been using Live for years, it's a stable DAW and whatever 'bugs' were fixed were not so bad that they drastically affected the ability to make music within the software.

It's a stable DAW now...

However, Live 7 and 8 weren't. Particularly with 8, users were up in arms and ready for a palace revolt. That is why Ableton had to announce the stopping of development and they spent over a year just fixing all the many issues. It was crash crash crash city.

Then when Live 9 was released, the core application was fairly solid by then (better now), but M4L was still crash prone and to this day is not solid like the core application is.

That is the case for every single person... they will decide when there is enough functionality to warrant paying the upgrade price. Good to have that choice!

Live 8 - 9 was only that long because 8 was so buggy and crash prone and users were so angry that Ableton had to make a public declaration that they were ceasing development until they fixed all the serious issues. Take away that emergency bug fixing period and 8 to 9 was more like 2 1/2 years.

Live 9 - 10 is the single aberration... and that is because of Push. It doubt it will happen that way again. A data set of 1 does not a pattern make. But hey, if you want to believe you are going to get 4-5 more years of free updates, go right ahead.
