If you ever have seen Dreamgirls, they completely dis Beyonce's character as having a soulless and inauthentic voice that somehow appeals to the lowest common denominator. Beyonce apparently made enough money from the film to care about the implications there.fluffy_little_something wrote: On a serious note, I don't like Beyonce's voice, it sounds pretty irritating to me. Her music is also just mediocre in my view. Never understood her success, frankly.
I actually prefer Kelis, she's crazy, yet authentic
What is so groundbreaking about Beyonce's Lemonade?

Apparently it has something to do with the way she peels the lemons.

Can’t say it any better than this.sqigls wrote:yes, very coincidental that a ghost-written entertainer pwned by an elite club of social engineers would deliver the 'right message' at just the right time.UltimateOutsider wrote: Also, this album with its themes of racial and sexual identity from an artist as revered as Beyonce really resonated with people at its release. It was the right message at the right time, and she was the right person to deliver it.

Is it possibly groundbreaking due to requiring that many individuals to help write a couple of songs? I mean, truly a miraculous artist.

I have no opinion about Beyonce other than "totally not my thing" but I kind of want to know how and why one song credits 15 people for writing it. Did they pass it around and everyone totally rewrote what the previous person did, or did they take turns "exquisite corpse" style? How many people wrote lyrics vs. percussion vs. bassline vs. all the various fill-in-y-bits? Did anyone get credit for just changing one word?

Let's say she used two samples in a song, that would alone credit upto say 6-7 people.Shangsean wrote:Is it possibly groundbreaking due to requiring that many individuals to help write a couple of songs? I mean, truly a miraculous artist.
