I've been opening it and closing it for over 10 years... I must have clocked up at least 50 minutes in that time... :D Although in reality, it's probably been several days or weeks...

I can rap my head around Sonar Bandlab from the different workflow aspects in a couple of days from what I'm use to in Studio One 3.5...

I can make more sense of Native Instruments Reaktor even though that's a mountain to learn, in order to get to the top...if ever.

A daw can have all the abilities imaginable above all others, but it really doesn't correlate in getting a job done quicker and faster, if it's not intuitive from the outset... and it's not going to help you if you move to other daws with very different workflow aspects and expectations.

If I wanted to take a flight from London to New York, I'd take a plane...not a rocket that takes mad turns and goes straight up with the hope it lands at it's destination which may be months later. By which time, there has been even faster planes developed with new enhancements to make the journey and destination nicer. Where are those nice instruments and effect devices other daws have eh ?

REAPER is more like your own house, you can change almost everything until you think its right.
I love living in motels. Someone else is in charge of changing the sheets and cleaning, every day if you like.
If not there is the little plastic Do Not Disturb sign to hang on the door.

Also, ice machine.

Problem is, with Reaper, you will actually spend more time housekeeping than actually living in your home. :ud:

You hit the nail in the head. :tu:
This entire forum is wading through predictions, opinions, barely formed thoughts, drama, and whining. If you don't enjoy that, why are you here? :D ShawnG

I think this thread should be closed by a mod, it's just going around in circles, and it seems to get worse every time.

Nonsense.

After all you dont have to set it all up every time you start REAPER, you do it once and then its done.

Problem is that you obviously have no clue about REAPER. :ud:

No, not really.

Ok, maybe exaggerating a bit, since i wanted to adress the "house" comparison. I'd surely have some work to adjust Reaper to my needs though. And, even then, it won't fit. So, i'd rather find me a nice hotel instead.

I have a lot of respect for reaper. i have completed more projects in it lately than anything else.
i am also a bit OCD. if i cannot find a way to 'return cursor to zero' it's like an itch i can't scratch.
but seriously, i know that's MY limitation, not the software. but it niggles. it is grit in the process.
Often times there are solutions but they can be hard to find if you don't know how to phrase the question.
i am sure that at some stage i will solve all the niggles. there is a very good reaper community. so it's all about patience and persistence. after all, the tools are a means to an end. there are no daws i hate. some i dislike for sure.
reaper is a great all-rounder and seems to be as deep as you want it to be.
i am happily at a stage with the tools at my disposal that i am able to make the music i want to make.
and, yes, there are economic factors - Reaper is ridiculously cheap for what it's capable of. thankfully.
there is no way i can think about using cubase today..

This is only if you've lived in a different house before and you got used to its idiosyncracies and potentially even you're then missing some of them when moving to this new house. There are plenty of people who were newly housed who found that the house was absolutely perfect and it needed no additional work done in order to live in it nicely. ;)

Fair enough. :) Even though i didn't live in many houses prior to Reaper. Maybe using Cubase first corrupted me. :P
