Mmorph - pitch tracking?

Is there anyway in MMorph to morph the pitch of signal A to the pitch of signal B?
So far, I've only been able to morph signal A to about 90% on the 'Ratio' knob, at which point it has the textural and sonic qualities of signal B, but the pitch of signal A. Moving the knob from 90% to 100% then flips to the dry signal B and switches/fades in its pitch.
Desired behaviour at a Ratio of 50% would be a signal which is halfway between the timbral properties of the two sounds, but also halfway between the pitches.
So if signal A was a sustained note and B was a sustained note on a different pitch, 50% would be a note halfway between the two.
Or if signal A was varying a lot up and down in pitch, and signal B was a constant tone, 50% would be a moderate fluctuation in pitch.
I'm trying to get to the hallowed ground of the Kyma example, morphing seamlessly between cat/baby/flute etc, and pitch/formant morphing sounds like a big part of that. http://ssc-media.com/Movies/KymaX82/mor ... 20iPad.mov
Is this possible? Either in the plugin currently, perhaps in a future update, or patchable in MXXX?

Yeah I was talking about the same thing with someone yesterday. We need like a pitch version of MPhatik.

Hmmm, that sounds cool! I wish I had time for that, but maybe one day

Oh please do, I know a lot of people that would be interested in that. Kyma has had a monopoly on that for a long time and you have all the tools to make it happen already.
I know you've got a lot going on though!

I hope you do find the time - mmorph is great already but proper pitch-morphing would take it to kyma-level awesome. Would make lots of sound designers very happy!MeldaProduction wrote:Hmmm, that sounds cool! I wish I had time for that, but maybe one day

Just wanted to check back and see if pitch-tracking is on any future to-do list for Mmorph? I've done a couple of projects in the last few weeks where it would have been hugely useful.

That isnt done automatically, you need to edit the audio files in the Tau editor and make appropriate settings so features of the files are aligned.wilx wrote: I'm trying to get to the hallowed ground of the Kyma example, morphing seamlessly between cat/baby/flute etc, and pitch/formant morphing sounds like a big part of that. http://ssc-media.com/Movies/KymaX82/mor ... 20iPad.mov
Therefore, make the appropriate edits in your DAW to get the time and pitch alignment you want and then apply MMorph

+1 from me, too! I'm constantly pitch-shifting the samples to match their pitches before I do the morphing, now. Time-consuming and sometimes not giving an optimal result.
Another trick I do is to resynthesize the samples in Apple Alchemy (the one included with Logic), then doing a sort of pitch morphing with the resynthesized sounds in Alchemy, but it's tricky and doesn't always work as expected.
A Melda real pitch morphing would be great.
