Sounds like maybe you think music doesn't mean much--it's just notes! :D
What do you think? What will be left if you take all emotions out of it? Yes... it doesn't mean any thing at all. Most people feel something about music and through music and in conclusion they think there is a substantial base to it which would be important.

But ask yourself one question. What is the human ear capable of registration? It's just sonic waves... That's all after all. Everything else is just made up by our minds. No o e should take things too serious or get to idealistic. The latter has already cost many artists lifes.

"Factory" is kind of a good description.... although we still don't know what MYYY will be in the end. One of my words was "Fabricate" :)

Your attitude toward music sounds nihilistic, which is its own idealism. If that's all music is to you, why do you bother with it?

Due to the joy any given sound can provide, without hanging on a concept of what music is or "has to be"

You shouldn't bring up that fast concepts like "nihilistic".

Maybe that is something only people who practice meditation or people with a free and opened mind can understand.

I respect your enjoyment of individual sounds, which seems to be your focus, rather than on music composition. That, of course, opens you up to enjoying the sound of banging on a pan, the falling of tap water into a sink, and the onslaught of a jackhammer tearing up a pavement. There's no need for music software in any of that, of course. But to say music has no meaning, that it's just the discrete phenomena of sounds, truly puzzles me. I respectfully disagree. And I think names do have meaning, as do words in general. Which is why I encourage the development of software names that are descriptively helpful rather than marketing fluff. "MSoundfactory" sounds fine to me, if it is a comprehensive sound-creation product that combines a sampler with various synthesizers and effects, as I've seen in a wishlist elsewhere in this forum.

According to your thinking I think you could be astonished how many time I spend studying jazz harmonics for getting more variety for improvising on the piano plus I spend much time for sheet reading. Both are things to improve composition.

Thing is I am aware about perception and what and how things really are. Therefore I don't hang too much on concepts. I have a certain distance what makes me more agile and free for all kinds of sounds and experiments. I already loved to experiment with sound as a child.

Well, I can see the source of your problem with music composition. Jazz had a good run from the 1910s, starting with dixieland, through the 1950s, with bebop, but it died in the 1960s, with Miles Davis marking its death throes. It's dead, now. You shouldn't blame jazz for losing the sense of meaning in composition. If you prefer to focus on sounds alone, I applaud you, but please reconsider this attitude of being above it all, presuming composition, names, and words to be all meaningless.

getting really interested...let´s see if it will compete with monsters like BioTek2. Will it have stutter, repeater and glitch (besides Granular via MXXX) modules which interact with the sample modules? Will it have more advanced granular-features? Will the sample modules have time-stretching? Can samples be used as a modulation source or as a source to manipulate resonance behavoir in physical modelling modules? Will there be advanced morphing features and a modulatable X/Y- pad whereto you can route multiple modules to certain places AND choose how the sound is affected when they blend over? Will it have physical modelling modules? Will there be FM? That combined all together in a modular system PLUS MXXX would be a dream come true. Please don´t do just more of the same already avaible from Melda...I really hope this thing gets one of the most creative and inventive beasts on the market one day.

Some name suggestions. Have Joy.

isn´t "MModular" not a bit ... common (and boring)? :hihi:

Thanks for your list of words...I love the way that words can be anything from merely functional, through amusing, evocative, creative, pointed or even meaningless...then right through to poetic and profound...like music. Great that you have such a broad view of music..I can see that you have welcomed the rigours of jazz harmony and sight reading right through to the dare I say mystical and philosophical appreciation of sound itself.

There's no need to insult this person like that. He says he doesn't think names, words or music compositions have any meaning, and he takes a very narrow perspective on sounds as buzzing phenomena. Please be respectful.

Yes, these all bite, don't they? Very descriptive. Very helpful. Yikes.

Does the name HAVE to be "M-this" or "M-that" ? And does the name necessarily have to explain what it does?
Because obviously it's going to do a bunch of things.

How about: "The Vojtecherizer" ?
THAT could get some buzz. I mean, everyone who's not already familiar with Melda Productions would probably hear about this "Vojtecherizer" thingy, and get curious... and visit the Melda site!

Lets hear it for The Vojtecherizer !

Thank you for your words. I think you maybe asume too much too fast.
Why do you speak of a "problem"? There is no problem at all.
Why do you think I am blaming anything or anyone?
Why do you think I prefer to focus on sounds alone?
Why do you think I have an attitude of being above it all?

I think a mind-based reset would be a good base for us to be able to have a reosonable discussion. I am aware of the fact that there are not enough words to transfer certain things to other people. Maybe my attitude is only understandable for persons who practice meditation. Words are really nothing else than crutches here.

The Jazz-Aspect:
If you have a deep understanding of jazz-related musical theory you are able to play and spice up every style of music and write harmonically rich compositions the audience would not even associate with jazz.

Have a joyful and relaxed time.
