Why does Bitwig think this color is magenta?

Image

I mean, I'm no expert (although I am a professional graphic designer, so maybe I am), but that sure as heck looks like just plain purple. It's a very bright purple, no doubt, but the blue content is very prominent.

Well...Can't say I ever thought of it...

Is the palette for coloring tracks/clips still limited to a default choice of colors ?

Yes still the limited palette unfortunately. I could probably work with the current palette if we had control over at least the opacity, that way I can say drop/raise the opacity on a fill on the same track and have it noticeable, but remain in the same colour group.
I imagine this working that every clip has a default background colour of white and there in an overlay layer which starts at 100% opacity of the chosen coulour. Only when we lower the % of the opacity this overlay scales down. There could be a minimum amount set on the overlay preventing the user from actually using the white background too.

Being able to vary the opacity sounds a pretty good way of offering more choices without much software modifications like introducing a full palette and managing it.
