The revenge motive from first Graig film was supposed to explain why he has no trust in love afair. It was very similar to that of On Her Majesty's secret service where Bond falls in love but this time to explain why he has a general problem with women.

And yet the start of Diamonds are Forever has Bond attempting to take revenge on Blofeld for killing his wife – several times over before finally succeeding at the end.

Even by the mid/late 1960s, Moonraker became practically impossible to adapt for the movie series. The novel's Drax was a very specific type of baddie and would have been too old as a character by the time it did get adapted. The early scenes would have been virtually impossible to film anyway - how do you show someone cheating at bridge? (Hilariously, in Fleming's world this is how we know Drax is a thoroughly bad egg. HE CHEATS! AT BRIDGE! HANGING'S TOO GOOD FOR HIM!). Plus, it's all set in the UK, which went against the jetsetter experience Broccoli decided had become part of the formula.

However, it did get made in the end - partly as Goldeneye and partly as Die Another Day.

The Man With the Golden Gun also got a better treatment (than Moore's) in Licence To Kill, with some bits nicked from Live and Let Die (Felix's meeting with the shark) mixed in for good measure. It's all a bit mix and match in the movie versions.

Bad feelings have been allowed for most Bonds though Roger played the unaffected sarcastically distanced hero.

The original theme with electric guitar riff is my favorite Bond music ... Shirley Bassey's Diamonds Are Forever is pretty awesome and I remember the music from Fireball being good too.

Why, ok. That's one film out of how many then where Bond doesn't give a damn? Rather shows the inconsistency of the character. Also through the use of so many Bond impersonating actors.

BTW, i always thought that George Clooney would make a great Bond. Shame they never got him to play the role.

OK.

I could rattle off a few more where it's clear Bond does give a crap about the women. And the men - he makes sure to let at least one baddie know how he feels about Felix.

But I feel we're getting to the point where we're getting a psychological profile of chk071 and its projection onto a character rather than James Bond here.

I looked at all from most recent and soon at the very first ones with Connery who started it all.
bob holness (blockbusters fame) had played the role on radio previous to any films.

(cue mandella effect changing that bloody fact too :x )
I'm going to be bold here - and say it started with a book. :D

Or your own character when you feel the need to get personal over a topic like this. ;)
