Offered me 15% off...
Doesn’t make any sense. Guitar Center had that same price. When musicians friend has sales guitar center usually matches them so I always buy from them because I’m blacklisted from musician’s friend. :hihi:

No doubt some of the feelings here about MF's handling of this situation comes from the fact that intellectual property and licenses differ from physical products. It is easier to understand a company's inability to deliver on a physical product where there was a pricing mistake versus a digital product.

I do believe this to be MF's problem and not Softube (even though Guitar Center had same price, odd). Regardless, I think Softube missed a big chance to grab a lot of folks who were willing to upgrade to the bigger license. Granted, they would not have made AS MUCH money, but to say that there would be a loss doesn't hold water. Customers were willing to pay for a product and most were wanting to upgrade which would have put SOOO much more money in there pockets. As it stands, dozens are now NOT taking that route, and that is from what I can gather just from this thread. Who knows how many tried to purchase it.

Oddly enough, it seems some of them went through, which is even more perplexing.

US$ 760 pre-order price instead of regular US$ 990. Must be one hell of an EQ. ;)
This really blows my mind :o ... How can a single EQ software worth so much... What kind of fantastic features can justify this price
What throws me off a bit is that MAAT actually has some nice software. I do like their meters quite a bit. They are also priced appropriately.

To make matters even weirder is that this EQ requires its own physical dongle. No software license possible. You need a special Wibu dongle to run it (although a Reason Ignitionkey should work as well).
It is for Mastering Ears only. So I am safe I think.

I think MF and GC are the same company. Or related in some way.

Guessing there were a few $19 licenses available, but a glitch in their system didn't show it as sold out fast enough. I seem to remember people getting error messages. Then Softube wouldn't help them out. So it turned into a big mess.

I'm not bothered either way. I wasn't even sure what it does. LOL!

And I'll stick to buying cables on sale from MF. Software has been hit and miss with them.

I always got great deals as well as dedicated support from MF and some of my best purchases were at GC.
Can’t complain at all.

Not sure about GC. When I first started buying equipment many years ago, they said to themselves here's a sucker with more money than knowledge. Well, a lot of it was used equipment but I wondered if it had belonged to the sales guy. I get better advice from my sales specialist at Sweetwater. He's talked me out of stuff that won't work with what I have and he makes good suggestions.

But it isn't local, so I can't try stuff out. Always negatives to go with the positives

This is unbelievable...
Ahhhh... this brings back memories of the good old days when plugins used to cost almost as much as the hardware.

If they are to be believed it’s a perfect mastering grade digital eq with no artefacts. Sounds like a very specific tool for big bucks mastering houses. I don’t think it’s of much value to regular producers and mixing engineers. They can sell it at that price because there’s nothing else on the market like it.

I think they left a zero on the end by mistake.

Any product that has this kind of marketing copy on its site... "There are many cheap and cheerful EQs out there. Most sound like…well, you get what you pay for, right?"

...must automatically work a bit harder to gain back the respect it lost when I read something like that :D. Blanket statement discrediting of competitors and "you get what you pay for" both sound terribly obvious and stereotyped manipulative marketing tactics. That's just my personal preference and opinion, of course.

That seems awful, if you read other forums, MF have offered people $50 credit off future purchases for this fiasco, whilst others have had nothing but an email saying order is cancelled, here's your refund

Seems very poorly done by MF even if it is Softubes fault I doubt I'll buy anything from them again

Here's the actual $50 offer: MF will give you $50 off the *current* price of Summit, and then give a $50 store credit after you purchase it.

So i'd have to spend $200+ to get their $50 credit. I passed.

The person I talked to on the phone was adamant that it was Softube's error when they sent over the prices.

Yep, that's the same offer/story I got, along with a sincere apology. And yes, he seemed definitive that Softube sent the wrong price. FWIW, I believe him.

Don't suppose Softube ever lurks around here and will weigh in. Be curious to hear what they have to say -- not that this is any huge drama.

Personally, I'm glad the BF madness is over.
