and btw 8-track goes into demo mode?
i guess that guy did something wrong or missed a registration to get the serial from computer music magazine. the whole process is a bit of a hustle and longer than the usual install-and-paste-a-serial thing, but then 8-track is a fully usable daw in its restriction. no demo no timelimits etc...
I read it as when adding more than the 8_Track limits IT THEN goes into demo mode.. Ableton OEM (LE/SE??) did the same thing, iirc..
Yeah, the CM activation routine was a real head scratcher ... It took me a while to find out why I was not getting email from CM, had disabled mail_notifications from them on the Bitwig html page... really guys!!!! Went to make an account at Bitwig... forgot I had account to get them demo.. got there in the end..
I am grateful for the opportunity have have something for nothing.. I get CM monthly anyway...
BUT you just can't please some people even with a free meal... That is life, I guess! One day >> MAYBE I will guess wrong....

i wish they would implement something like abletons capture into the full version on the next big number update.

i dont see any "waste" in buying and reading that mag too. always delivers neat stuff and an extra with all that plugins.

I buy Computer Music once in a blue moon, and only if it has a software giveaway I want. I purchased the issue yesterday solely to try out Bitwig 2 track. The magazine has pretty much zero interest for me, a quick flick through and I was done.

If you have a look at the limitations of Bitwig 2 track you will see that it flips into demo mode whenever any of the limitations are exceeded.

i see. i couldnt remember. i bought the full version after bitwig 1 8Track very soon. i dont know if i run into that or not anymore.

but what i discovered is still a bit annoying.
i installed the 8track version now just to test the new sampler and maybe even test it with ableton via link, and updated it asap. i installed it in a separate folder.

the problem is...bitwig seems to not give a shit, if u install in separate folders. i could no longer start my bitwig 2.3.5 license.
then i thought, i am clever, i switch to another version via the button top right, where u are supposed to upgrade to the full version.

but this button only knows two things:
a link to the bitwig website
and a register a NEW license

so if u try to install a 2.4 8-track besides an older version second license. dont do it. i regret it, i swear. it ends in an uninstall/install battle to get your older main license back. maybe theres an easier way, but theres no indication whatsoever acknowledgeable anywhere.

if the bitwig devs are CLEVER & SMART, they may use that demo/8track button top right for switching purposes in the future, so that one can switch between licenses, versions or betatests or whatever.
:phones: would be a nice feature.
