I need to dig deeper and buy a keyboard controller before fully engaging with it, but it looks very deep and seems to sound very good for a freebie.
I would like and subscribe if I had a Google account, but I don't.

The synth is almost too good to be true, isn't it?Hermetech Mastering wrote: Fri Dec 28, 2018 9:31 am I need to dig deeper and buy a keyboard controller before fully engaging with it, but it looks very deep and seems to sound very good for a freebie.
You can also take advantage of the Tyrell's user manual. It's up at the synth's official website. The link is in the video's description.
I understand.Hermetech Mastering wrote: Fri Dec 28, 2018 9:31 am I would like and subscribe if I had a Google account, but I don't.![]()

Quality content, zygomatic! Nice tip and we'll presented. You could make the edit (fade to blacks) a lot snappier though, the cuts felt very slow to me. Obviously just an irrelevant little detail, top notch stuff otherwise and looking forward to more episodes!
I've resorted to Tyrell N6 for classic analog poly pads while I make my mind about which HW polysynth I'll get, it does some things better and some things worse than xhip and KX-Polymod.

Thanks so much, .jon. I'm really glad you enjoyed it and found it useful.
Thank you for the input. There's no bad suggestion, as far as I'm concerned. I'll seriously take it under advisement. I'm, in fact, for the first time in my life doing something like this..jon wrote: Sun Dec 30, 2018 11:08 am You could make the edit (fade to blacks) a lot snappier though, the cuts felt very slow to me. Which hardware polysynths are you considering?.jon wrote: Sun Dec 30, 2018 11:08 am I've resorted to Tyrell N6 for classic analog poly pads while I make my mind about which HW polysynth I'll get, it does some things better and some things worse than xhip and KX-Polymod.

Believe it or not, the slow fade to blacks is something most people do when editing videos for the fist time. Anyways, it's certainly not a mistake or anything like that, just something not very common in these days. If it's your style, just stick with itzygomatic wrote: Sun Dec 30, 2018 8:24 pm Thank you for the input. There's no bad suggestion, as far as I'm concerned. I'll seriously take it under advisement. I'm, in fact, for the first time in my life doing something like this.On the other hand, even though the videos in this series are going to be short, I'd still like them to retain that somewhat dark and cinematic vibe and scenery reminiscent of the original Blade Runner movie just so that everything has a common theme.
Novation Peak is currently the number one contender for me, I like the sound and it seems quite versatile. I have two DSI synths already which kind of leaves the extremely viable Prophet Rev 2 out, could do with some variety. Unless I part with my Mopho SE and go for the REV 2 keyboard, the Mopho is my main controller now. Or keep the Mopho and get a Prophet 12 desktop, which is totally different but so very tempting for my styleWhich hardware polysynths are you considering?

While making those longer fades I was also considering making the timestamps for easier navigation. It's also a neat way of skipping the fades altogether..jon wrote: Sun Dec 30, 2018 9:07 pm Believe it or not, the slow fade to blacks is something most people do when editing videos for the fist time. It's all well and good but hardware synths are simply out of my reach for the moment.Novation Peak is currently the number one contender for me, I like the sound and it seems quite versatile. Have you ever felt limited with Tyrell's maximum number of voices? Are 8 voices really enough?

I'm using running Tyrell within Reaper as well but on Windows 10 and didn't notice anything similar happening.

Are the drum tutorials still available? Drums are probably what I struggle with the most and definitely have derailed countless OSC attempts for me!dave dove wrote: Tue Dec 25, 2018 11:24 am @zygomatic
Nice vid - looking forward to more
Tyrell is dead versatile, straightforward, great sounding and free
which makes it ideal for synthesis tutorials
I used it for some drum synthesis tuts a few years ago
its also Win, Mac and Linux so most people have access and can follow along...
some people just like to moan from the corner
ignore them
merry xmass

Great video! I never knew Tyrell even had that feature. What is the deal with it not assignable from the dropdown?
