it really doesnt matter.
different order different overall sound.
the perfect routing would be user definable.

Yes, nice synth.
I would like to see more smooth saturation distortion.
It not bad now, but just warmer and rounder.
lol people will go on and on asking for added features until it is a self contained DAW in and of itself!

love TAL stuff for its XP compatability, in a market saturated with
virtual synths & effects, it seems like you would want to target
everyone instead of limiting to latest OSes and 64bit.
the love for vintage hardware bleeds into love for
vintage OSes for me as well.

I'm actually surprised given the modular nature of the synth that it isn't the case. It'd be great if the 'FX' tab brings up another page with cables for you to route the order of the effects. Or alternatively if it's best to keep it in the lower window have the plugins movable a la the bottom of Repro 1/5 (you change the processing order by moving those red blocks on the bottom-left of the GUI up and down):

hehe, yeah, as old as SURGE is, even it has slots that you can choose which effect goes where!

I’m curious (and did not read the whole thread) are the fx part of the modular structure? Or are they hardwired to the end of the signal path. Also is TAL mod a MPE capable synth? Or any of TAL’s other stuff for that matter? I’m really having a hell of a time finding a product with MPE support that can hack it soundwise without destroying my cpu.

quite honestly, i dont see why a synth needs any onboard effects except maybe a chorus like the junos. i ALWAYS prefer better outboard effects and only use a built in chorus to "pre fatten" up a sound a little.

I don’t much care for onboard effects, but if they are fully modular you can do neat stuff like feedback a reverb into a filter and build self resonating drones and such. Or modulate a delay time at audio rates for neat fm sounds. That is why I asked. If it doesn’t have that, then I’m am not especially interested. I have plenty of modular type stuff. I really like the TAL stuff I have though so if they had used the fx as part of the modular system or implemented MPE I would probably grab it up. There are not many products out there that tick all those boxes.

Personally, I think Tal-Mod is an underrated synth.
It has so much character and possibilities sonically.
