I only just saw this - it's funny how things can slip by when there is so much going on. I always read the news on the home page but there was no mention of it on there. Lucky it showed up on the recent posts list on the right side of the site or I may have missed out.

I just got RePro, Diva uses way too much CPU and I don't need effects, and just a few minutes going through the presets has me hooked. The envelopes are super-snappy, which gives the presets real punch, and it has a nice, aggressive tone to it that should suit our music perfectly.
Cinebient wrote: Mon Feb 04, 2019 8:09 pmI hope so. I just wonder because sales for products which mainly never do this is sometimes not a good sign :o
But Zebra is not included...so maybe all is good :)
If you could get the sale price everywhere, then there would be cause to worry but as it's an NI exclusive and running for such a short time, I don't think you should be reading anything into it.

IMO if your system can handle Repro you should have no problem with Diva.

I've tried the demo and it was way worse, like 2 or 3 times worse. Some presets were clocking around 50%, which doesn't leave much room for the rest of a song. RePro is running at 10%-15% at the moment, which is still way more than something like DUNE or The Legend but I can manage it at that level. Although, thinking about it, I have upgraded my CPU by four generations since I tried Diva so maybe I should try the demo before the offer expires. Thanks for making me engage my stupid brain.

Really? I found RePro 5 slightly heavier than Diva!
Anyway, I still haven't gotten RePro. Diva might be enough, but damn! RePro is so good! Let me see if I can delay paying the internet bill this month :hihi:

Post

Repro 5 is heavier. Did you activate multicore in the Diva top bar?
in Repro it can be saved as default, but diva has to be turned on for each new instance.

Hi, FWIW, regarding too much CPU usage. I also ran into the same thing when demoing Diva. I tried what someone else recommended and reduced the resolution to "draft" mode. Its the button on the bottom left I think. That reduced CPU usage to same as my Arturia VSTs.

As mentioned above... Use draft mode, for when "drafting" your parts. I love Diva and wished I had picked it up sooner than I had. You can always change it back when rendering tracks out before mixing.

Before demoing I was most interested in Repro, Satin, and Twangstrom. After demoing I'm a little underwhelmed by Twangstrom (I haven't tried it on enough sources yet though), but I am surprised by how much I like Colour Copy. I really don't need anymore delays but this thing is special. Satin is amazing as expected. The first tape sim that I've used that sounds good when you drive it hard. All the others I've tried sound like bass heavy mush, but this has a really nice useful distortion. Presswork sounds great but I don't think I need it (but I would sure as hell use it if I had it).
Repro is an absolute must have. It obviously sounds amazing but it also seems to compliment everything very well. Not many synths have that quality.
Diva is astounding but I don't know if I need it. I think it might overwhelm me, although if I managed to keep it simple it could be extremely useful (it almost feels like cheating, I don't know how to describe it).
Overall, these are some of the most outstanding plugins out there (as most of you already know).
If you have the money, you'd have to be drunk to miss out on this.
As for me, I'm debating whether I should just get Repro or if I need to sell a kidney and get them all.
@Local Man - Twangstrom is amazing for what it is. If you are looking for a spring reverb, then this is it. Look no further unless you want to look at UA plugins and/or mess with IRs. They hit this one out the park, but Spring Reverb is not a universal sound... it is an extremely specific one, similar to what Color Copy is, but just far more obvious as a specialty effect.

Hoping you don't have to rob anyone, especially not Rob from u-he.

I don’t think they’re a small company. They might only have a few employees, but this line of work is very specialised and only needs a few highly skilled individuals. The non essential stuff such as sound design, UIs and web design can be outsourced. They’re like hedge funds they only need a few employees that it.

The VSTi market is tiny overall compared to other markets such as gaming, gambling, productivity software etc etc. But considering U-he have several of the top selling synths including Zebra and Diva. And have a large chunk of market share because of their many plus years in the industry. I don’t think you can describe them as anything other than a major player in the market.

Cool, thanks for the advice (you too, Telecode). I installed the Diva demo and it seems they are around the same most of the time, although Diva has a lot more variation between patches. What scares me is that the default patch, the INIT preset, runs at 42% by default. That's dumb because it is bound to put people off. Changing from "great" to "fast" drops it to 24% with a barely noticeable change in the sound. Draft halves that again but the difference is very audible. What has the biggest effect is reducing polyphony (a trick I learned many years ago with DUNE). Dropping it to 2 with the INIT patch gets it down to a fairly respectable 10%. It's still more than twice as much as DUNE uses but it is manageable. So now it's off to the sperm bank to get some more money for Diva. (At least internet porn on smartphones makes it quicker and easier to make a deposit.)

16 in total, i think.

And, yeah, i was also a bit confused about the estimate of 2% revenue increase. But then, it was an estimate, and maybe Urs ate more humble pies. :P

This sale, and the sales of used licenses in the Sell & Buy forum showed me once again that there is a lot more interest than they create with their current prices. But, hey, up to them.

@BONES.. I would say, keep tinkering with the demo and see how you like and and it fits with what you like to make.
