and BTW Peter i did start up a ticket yesterday and from what i wrote them back they said they would pass it along to the dev team so maybe i helped some but still to figure out Studio One's problem with the VST2 version of ST4 it MAY be S1 specific but it is reading other VST2 plugs and only seeing and scanning ST4 VST3 version which baffles me

the update has fixed the problem of VST3 crashing on instantiation, however now i don't see any ST4 sounds, and doing a rescan doesn't help - it just stops scanning right away.

EDIT: reinstalling 4.0.2 fixed this particular issue. waiting on scan now...

EDIT2: all of the immediate issues that i personally was having, were fixed with 4.0.2 update. thanks IK! now, that doesn't mean i won't find more... but at least i can use ST4 now!

heads up for Peter and who concerned:

4.0.2 seemed to have fixed my problem with VST2 plugin. it now functions in FL Studio correctly so this must have fixed some

but sadly Studio One is still only seeing the VST3 version of the plugin and continues to crash. as for Pro Tools 12.7 it completed the plugin scan but i have yet to test the instrument but i think that fix referenced may have fixed that issue the same as it did with FL Studio.

so other than S1's problems... we are making headway cheers

There is an update being posted very soon but I'm not sure this issue tracks precisely with what I list on my status and what's being updated there (there are also sounds updaters coming along with it). So I'm not sure this is a global issue that requires an update or something may have happened during the initial install to cause this for some, etc. Please do note that the SampleTank 4 and SampleTank 3 install paths should be separate and we've seen some who have attempted to install the SampleTank 4 sounds into the SampleTank 3 path or vice versa which definitely will cause some issues.

Peter, thanks. I have already received a reply from support and I am working with them now. They did indicate there was a problem with an early instrument installer that they resolved this past weekend.

I will update when I get this straightened out here.

yes i have re-scanned and cleared blacklist multiple times. but to fix my waves problem (v9 and v10 plugs) with S1 i had to remove a .ini file i think it was and force it to re-write it before it would actually see a few of my new v10 plugs. wondering if that might help but as i stated before S1 is seeing and scanning other VST2 plugs but will not recognize the VST2 version of ST4... it only sees the VST3 version and it still crashes to desktop on instantiation. cheers and thnx for tryin' to help

Hi I'm having the same "missing pak file" error and I'm unable to get any sounds loaded. I've opened a support ticket but they haven't responded so I'm reaching out here.

This is the error that I get
Instrument ST4 Error. Cannot locat Tank at path 'Z:/Sampletank 4/Samples/22_ST2 XL/Bass/Modern Slap LM.pak' This occurs for every instrument that I am trying to load.

What is the exact order of installing this thing?

I've downloaded all the sound files (except for the ST3 files). Do I run the sound installer for each of the sound files? It asks me for a path and I enter my external drive path (Z:\Sampletank4) but ST4 never sees any of these files.

There is no required order, but you should install all of the SampleTank 4 sound libraries that it appears you have downloaded. Also note that the updaters just released should be installed afterward, then update SampleTank to 4.0.2. That should resolve issues you are having and IK Support can help with any issues you still may encounter (they typically respond within 1-2 business days).

Edit - sorry I missed it but SampleTank 2.x libraries will not load in SampleTank 4 directly. You must install the SampleTank 3 content (which includes the SampleTank 2.5 XL content you reference) in order to use it in SampleTank 4.

Peter, is there any way for us to check that we have installed all of the files/sounds included in MAX? It's a bit overwhelming given the number of downloads and the total number of sounds available.

I have the exact same issue. I don’t think the multiple library paths are working - at least for you and me.

Thanks for the info. I expect iK will get it sorted out soon. I'm on a Mac, so this seems to be a global problem. I figure I could just copy the ST3 content over to my ST4 drive, but I don't really want to do that.

Hey Peter, I have been having a library path issue similar to what these users have been discussing. I haven't reported it to support yet, because I may have found a workaround. The problem resulted in the error message that the content could not be located in the specified path, etc.

My workaround is to go into settings and click "Remove" for both paths. Then add "SampleTank 3" first, followed by "SampleTank 4". Then close and allow the database to rebuild.

And then "voila", everything just works!

It's still a bug though so I'll leave my iK ticket open.

Update on this issue. The workaround didn't work for me as it did for the two above. However, I may have pooched my install trying to troubleshoot it myself. I have been working with IK support back and forth most of the day. They have been super patient, helpful and responsive. They have been getting back in touch with me faster than I can respond to them. I think they have narrowed it down to some ST3 content that I managed to install in my ST4 library - which is not supported. I will post another update when it is fixed for sure! This appears to be user error and not a global issue - at least in my case!

You could compare to the lists at https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/st4/#sounds but if you've downloaded the full list from your IK User Area and installed those, you'd have everything.

Some DAWs will only show the VST3 version if it is available but I'm not 100% sure about Studio One as I do not use it regularly. The support team will surely assist as crash issues should be few and far between now post-4.0.2. As long as you've installed the sound library updates first, then 4.0.2 and still have this issue, I'm sure they'll be able to look at logs etc to get to the bottom of it for you.

Peter -- as a ST4 Max USB stick customer, this is the type of thing I was speaking of in my prior post, wondering if these installer fixes and updated fixed installers will be on the USB stick we receive, or if there are some installers on it we should not use and instead use a new fixed installer we have to download from the IK website.

Since this KVR member is saying IK support told him they have posted fixed new installers, it seems that these were made AFTER the USB sticks were already shipped to us.

So us USB stick customers really NEED for you/IK to clearly tell us if all installers we get on the USB stick are good to go and OK to install, OR if we need to not use certain installers we get on the USB stick and instead use in their place installers we should download from our IK user area.

I think that Peter made it clear the sticks would be shipped with updated files. The reference that support made to me was in regard to some day 1 install files available on our user area that I had already used, so I doubt that should concern you.

The main reason I am responding here is that you quoted me, and it was not my intent to cause any confusion, which I apparently did do.

Bottom line, there will probably be future updates to the program over time that cannot be reflected in the boxed version that shipped this week. So it will always be a good idea to keep an eye out for updates in the user area.

Thank you very much for your post and I am sorry if I misconstrued your other prior pos. It just seems from many of the posts here that there are new, updated fixed installers coming out and being posted for download, seemingly after the time that Peter had said the USB sticks had been shipped out.

Another post a couple of posts ago mentioned not knowing whether they have been shipped yet. Better that IK hold off from shipping them until all of the fully corrected installers are on them, so when we finally get them we can just proceed to install with those installers on our stick. Good things come to those who wait, as the old saying goes I keep trying to tell myself as I anxiously can’t wait to get my hands on it!

Or you could just look at what version is on the stick and look on the website to see if there is an update.
