No, not really.

They're totally different instruments and will not be patch compatible.Toddskins wrote: Sun Mar 24, 2019 2:07 am This has probably been answered somewhere, but will all the presets that are currently available for Zebra 2 (up to 2_8) be usable and sound the same in Zebra 3 when it comes out, do you think?

They will not sound the same... may not even be loadable in any meaningful sense.Toddskins wrote: Sun Mar 24, 2019 2:07 am This has probably been answered somewhere, but will all the presets that are currently available for Zebra 2 (up to 2_8) be usable and sound the same in Zebra 3 when it comes out, do you think?

No, because it will still be Zebra... same basic concept and semi-modular structure.Toddskins wrote: Sun Mar 24, 2019 5:38 pm Then shouldn't the new instrument have a totally different name?

I'm beginning to really appreciate Zebrify. It sounds great.
It's one thing to process synthetic sounds with effects, as it's difficult to discern 'sonic reality' in the first place. Although to process "real" sounds that we're all familiar with, like voice, things become more apparent. This is where I can better hear what the effects are doing and of what quality they are. To my ears, Zebrify sounds very high quality.
Not only that, the pitch tracking and envelope follower are excellent. Which makes me wonder; what about vocoding? Is there a way to make Zebrify a vocoder? FM is possible, but band-splitting, like a conventional vocoder I don't see a built-in way.
Is this a possible feature request, or am I missing something?

This is my main request for Zebra, and all u-he synths really (especially Hive with its suboscillators).bhinton wrote: Thu Nov 01, 2018 5:32 am - Multiple audio outs eg ability to have each lane output audio from the plugin.
I like Zebra for designing bass sounds, but I want to be able to route a mono sub bass separately from the main bass sound, so I can process it separately in the DAW.

Not sure if it's been suggested or not but I think it would be cool for an FMO module to have the same features and abilities as a standard OSC module- ability to choose number of voices per module, sync, phase, etc.... most of all I think having the oscillator effects available in an FMO would yield some interesting results

My short wishlist:
1.) MSEG: That the MSEG are switchable via Keyswitch (lowest Octave on 88 Keyboard and or configurable)
I like creating rhythm via MSEG but as they aren't switchable it soon gets boring.
1. extended) Nice would be to in-/decrease curvepoints via a modulator
2.) ARP: best: use gradual theory for the arp (sure you know that then there should be an option to choose which is root and which scale) *
second best: use chord tones - 1 = lowest note of a chord played; 2 = second lowest note of a chord played and so on. Being able to clean/draw one row at once (note, length etc.) - look also at FM8
As the arp is right now i only use the root or octave up and down, because if you create a melody in minor this would only work for 3 notes I, IV and V...
* Sugarbytes Consequence (as far as i remember)
4.) Maybe add a second slot for some more modulation targets - yes i know there is also the matrix..
Dream 1.) let's get the Zebra physical
i would pay 2000 € or more for it

3.) A lil bit of feedback would be nice, most i would like to see this for the ENV - take a look at for example to FAW Circle. For the rest i think NI did make a good middle way with Razor, you see which modulator is active (allready done), the amount (also done yet) but you see also the range and the active value of the modulation and the "movement".Urs wrote: Thu Nov 01, 2018 1:02 pm I am actually thinking about a way to bring in visual modulation feedback. Nothing too fancy, no dozens of attention seekers.

I agree. They already got their money from Zebra3. What's the point to make the product anymore. Waste of time if you ask megeneraldiomedes wrote: Sun Mar 24, 2019 2:30 amSomehow I think this is one of the reasons for the z3 delay

If u-he announced the Zebra 3 release date and said - "actually guys, this has taken a huge amount of effort and it's so significantly separate/improved from Zebra 2 and HZ that we are going to have to charge an upgrade price..."
- I would be more than happy to pay. £50, £100, whatever. My u-he stuff has paid for itself many, many times over and I'm sure Zebra 3 will be equally important.

Completely agree with this, I'd be up for paying more for the upgrade. I've owned Zebra since 2006 and the free updates over the years has been phenomenal.wilx wrote: Tue Apr 09, 2019 11:29 am If u-he announced the Zebra 3 release date and said - "actually guys, this has taken a huge amount of effort and it's so significantly separate/improved from Zebra 2 and HZ that we are going to have to charge an upgrade price..."

There are some tricks in conjunction with the ModMatrix (the one in Hive 2 which is coming to Z3, not the Z2 one) which may be abused to do switchable MSEGs. Not necessarily with key switches, but e.g. with ModWheel and stuff.
We'll see. Defining keys for switchable performance controls have been on my list since I bought an EPS-16+ in 1993.
