tracktion 7 doesn't work on linux if you plug an akai mpk mini2

hi everybody,

i use tracktion7 under linux 19.1 (i have a low latency kernel, it's easy to install one instead of the "normal" kernel)
T7 works perfectly when it comes to use loops, to edit, to manage etc etc.
there are quite a few linux VSTs, ladspa, everything is very fluid BUT

when i try to use my akai MPKmini2, tracktion identifies it properly and yet when i choose one of the instruments in my bank, tracktion7 shuts down, actually it completely stops.

Has anyone experienced that? where do i go wrong? (i use my akai on the same computer with other programs...)
