Also i saw the colors were changed on the fly. Why not to have a color mixer to have custom coloring? like Tal plugins have. I think it would solve color problem as each has own preferences :)

I wouldn't call it complex. It's a substantial update, but the new features themselves are rather straight forward. I think one "gets" them after a few clicks.

We're also happy with how this video worked out, so we're going to polish it and add sound examples etc.

That was done in the video editing software :hihi:

The new GUI is much better than the last "green" one. It looks awesome now. :tu:

The video came out great! Any chance of seeing part 2?

Urs wrote: Wed Apr 03, 2019 7:43 pm I also don't understand this part of the manual:
LEVEL (The numbers under the waveform display)

Adjusts the level of the LFO output in semitones (0 to 127). The default setting is 127 for LFO step 1 and 0 for the remaining steps.

STEP LEVEL (The bottom row of numbers)

Adjusts the level of the LFO step output in semitones (0 to 24). The default setting is 0.
I have no idea what semitones have to do with LFO output levels, or how it would relate to what we're doing in Hive
It makes me feel better about myself that Urs also struggles with the manual sometimes.

There are two and they're not nearly as good. Due to lack of example presets and hasty production, I think they might be disappointing rather than inspiring. For example, I played one example myself on a keyboard I was not familiar with, which had an extremely hard pressure threshold. As a result, a technique that might be pretty groundbreaking for the virtuous players out there, sounds quite underwhelming in the video.

Gotcha. I was just curious to get some more about the Shape Sequencer. Can wait.

Hehehe, it was not *our* manual... I think we use very precise language to describe things as clearly as possible. I think what happened in that manual was simply inconsistency: LFO steps vs. "stepped" LFO outputs.

Ok, I can post that one, but there were still some severe bugs I had to work around, and pretty much no audio demo at all:

Some visual bugs, such as lines ending half way, yet have to be fixed.

You're the best Urs!

This is insane. I did not expected that, this way of modulating is really easier and actually better for rhymic patches then just having MSEGs

Also when it was mentioned about emulating, its worth to add some templates with patches that sort of emulates some synth behaviour by default.

Urs but there wount i suppose crossmod? maybe via matrix (like in Dune) ?

Love it! Looks super easy to use. I'm guessing the editing method will work it's way into Z3. Very cool. Very intuitive way to draw shapes.

I know features are locked down, but no Loop >--< (forward then backwards) mode? Maybe for some future update.

No crossmod.

Post

Yeah, sorry, no Crossmod. It's not completely off the table, but the way I can imagine it, it requires the option to de-couple the sub oscillators from the main osc's pitch modulation. I tried a quick implementation which ended up being rather buggy on the day before my vacation. So it got dropped. Dropped, but not forgotten.
