Agreed. There's really no reason to put one against the other, they all have their uses. And, there's "proudly" digital synths, which sound damn good too.

Agreed. I understand Plugin Alliance pricing strategy quite well (I even have a book that explains the why and how it works), but seriously, 249$ is a bit pretentious considering The Legend or Repro current prices.Aloysius wrote: ↑Sat Apr 13, 2019 2:13 pm OK. OK, I've changed my mind about this synth. After spending more time with it I realize it is the presets and certain effects that don't work for me. Half (or more?) of the presets use the Air Band effect which sounds awful to me - take a nice warm sound and make it overly bright, shrill (and modern?). I think the reverb takes away from most presets as well - this reverb doesn't sound good at all to me. Strange to me how the beautiful "analog" sound of this synth is obliterated by the harsh effects.
There are a lot of beautiful presets hidden in there if you turn off the effects (at least Air Band, Reverb, and Metal). I really wish this had a global effects switch like Repro (one of my favorite features).
Global effects bypass and a lower price would sell me on this. Crazy over-priced IMO.

LOL this isn't even an exact emulation of any one synth yet they thought it'd be okay to put an ADS envelope but a M/S filter...WTF haha. I think they wanted to just jam they're TNT tech into the easiest synth they old synth they could model, but didn't even want to commit to a specific emulation. To make matters worse they priced themselves into a major flop of a first release like this makes me want to buy Softube Parrallels just because in comparison it seems fairly priced and innovative.

There is a global efx switch ... although I agree with most of your observations.

Yeah, it's not realistic, considering the competition. Maybe the "heavy hitter" discount will bring it down to reasonable levels.nachenko wrote: ↑Sat Apr 13, 2019 2:56 pmAgreed. What I meant was a global effects bypass that keeps effects turned off even when you switch presets. Repro may be unique with this feature.Scotty wrote: ↑Sat Apr 13, 2019 4:09 pm There is a global efx switch ... although I agree with most of your observations.

Oh yeah , they are emulating an oberheim sem
And by the way , brainworx has been coding quality plugins for over decade, specifically for the creamware/sonic core program .
These guys surely know what they are doing , and it's not because the sem has a simple signal flow means that it's easy to model the synth accurately .
It's not you standard wavetable plug , that's for sure

Really good comparison. So they're remarkably close when it comes to the basic "synth" bits like the oscillators, filter etc. The bx has a few features the Arturia lacks, and vice versa. If any of those features are important to you, that should guide your purchasing decision in favor of one or the other.
Personally, as I already have the Arturia version, this video just re-affirms my feeling that it's not worth it for me, especially at the asking price.

Look I'm just going off what the creator of the plug said. He said in the video he didn't model a particular synth. And the SEM didn't have unison. So if we're playing that game why are we playing it halfway?
