It looks like it's the same stuff--they even list Black Winny more or less as a patch developer, since he's lumped in with the other developers. But charging for other peoples' copyrighted work (in the case of the commercial patches in this collection) is generally frowned upon. Almost all of the patches listed on that site are in the collection Black Winny sorted for Dexed (and which @PietW., @beely and others have sorted for other "DX7 emulators"), I'd bet. There's no need to pay for them, since the links are freely available in this thread and in other similar threads on KVR.
It appears as if you can download individual sets of patches (listed by "developer") for free, but if you want the whole bundle, you have to go through PayPal and/or Gumroad and pay the $5. And while they may try to claim that they're only charging for "file-hosting support" and not charging for the patches, that scheme has already been tried and thrown out by the courts. The reality is that they're charging $5 for access to the .ZIP file of all the collected patches. They have no legal right to do this.
And the links they offer to let you buy Arturia's DX7 and NI's FM8 take you to a page where you could spend $464.64 (USD) for Arturia Collection V6. There's nothing on the page about FM8.

Paying $5 won't solve the problem you're having. You inadvertently put the files into the wrong folder. Delete the file db.db3 - The next time you launch an Arturia instrument that file will be rebuilt and all the newly added presets will show up.2NDMOUSE wrote: Fri May 03, 2019 8:03 am Thanks. Beware though, that SYX files don't show up in DX7 V as presets - that's probably why you are not seeing them. You have to use the "Import" function to import them and convert them into DX7 V presets. Only then they will be preset.

Beware though, that SYX files don't show up in DX7 V as presets - that's probably why you are not seeing them. You have to use the "Import" function to import them and convert them into DX7 V presets. Only then they will be preset.
I read the comments about db.db3 earlier, but assumed it was connected to mac OS.
Thought all the presets had been wiped, but it took 10 seconds or so for them to refresh when I opened DX7 V. Thanks ....all sorted it seems =)
Is there a similar bank for the prophet 5 anywhere ? Im sure there are a ton of presets out there from the original sequential circuits machine, but not having a lot of luck locating them.

I haven't seen a huge collection of Prophet V patches, and from what I've read, Arturia had problems importing SYSEX files with certain versions of the Prophet V. It seems that some files wouldn't import properly, or you'd have to rename patches once they were imported. (https://forum.arturia.com/index.php?topic=83036.0)
That may be fixed by now; when I get back to my DAW, I'll test a few. Otherwise, a simple Google search for "Prophet SYSEX files" will probably give you more than you can handle for a while.

UPDATE: There is no way that I can see to import SYSEX files into Arturia's Prophet V3 (the latest Collection 6). All it will import are .prox and .alplaylist files. There is literally no mention of "sysex" in the owner's manual.
From what our friend Ingo says in the Arturia forum (in the link I posted above), Arturia fixed the SYSEX import feature in the V4 Collection, after having removed it in the V3 Collection, apparently. Unfortunately, there's nothing new in the Arturia's forum as to whether they removed it again. The exchange between Ingo and Arturia was in December of 2014, so Arturia's had time to remove the feature again.
If anyone else knows of a way to do this, many of us would like to know. I understand you can do this (more or less) by importing SYSEX files into the V2 Collection version of Prophet...saving your own preset from there, and then using the preset converter that came out with the V5 Collection to convert the preset into something the latest version of Prophet V will read...but seriously, life's too damn short for that, even if you could get an old copy of the V2 Collection Prophet. And from what I've seen with the preset converter utility, the sounds just aren't quite the same after they're converted, so there's really no telling how close you'd be to the original, real Prophet hardware sound once you jumped through all these hoops.

I've even been surprised to find my name in that website which makes money with things which are actually free and on which they have done absolutely nothing except publish them on their website and set a price for the ability to get everything at once. What's funny is that if you pay these $5 to get everything at once you'll find yourself back with... the initial tons of dupes as if nothing had been done.
Ha ha ! What a bunch of clowns...
$5 appears to be very small... but $5+$5+$5+$5+$5+$5+$5+$5+$5+$5+$5+$5+$5+... at the end of a single year it can make a lot of money! Then I let you imagine on a practice during 5 or 6 years...
Make money on something which is free is illegal when there is not a real service added to the free product. The price demanded then is just the price of the added service. But simply publishing a website with a collection of files and making a zip file that will be automatically copied by a machine to a repository is not a real service. I call that... opportunism.
In addition, when they published my file (without asking me, I stumbled upon their site a few days ago when someone wrote about it) and added my name to their table... they altered my zip file! They removed a lot of syx files which were in it and even some full directories themselves, and all the documentations that I had left in the zip file to show clearly the origins of many of these syx files, to show clearly the credits to their authors/designers, and even sometimes to show how some specific syx banks must be used and what they precisely contain. They have removed all my collection from AViC, they have removed all my collection from Bo Tomlyn, they have removed all my collection from ChiNoMaki, they have removed all my collection from DMC, they have removed all my collection from Ishibashi, they have removed all my collection of the original DX7 VRC cartridges, they have removed all my collection from PA-Decoder, they have removed all my collection from SoundSations, they have removed all my collection from Syntech, etc. etc. etc.
They have removed not less that 441 files including 255 syx files and all the documentations and URLs!
And they dare to sell works made by others and published for free!
They really don't feel any shame...
Here is another post where I replied to our friends bump1 and planetearth when I discovered that new website, my presence on it without even having been notified by them (the authors of the website, of course not bump1 and planetearth)... and the huge cut that they made in my zip file.
Another thing, much more positive: I want to say a big thank you to beeler who recently told about SoundDiver on this post of this present thread (it's good to recall it
). It will help me for my future versions (and also for the same work I'm doing for the Casio CZ-Series). I didn't know this tool, I had made all my painstaking, meticulous and patient work in 2014 just with several VBA scripts that I had made ad hoc (comparing the parameters sections of the sysex files while ignoring the preset names, yes
) and with an hexadecimal editor (Hex Editor Neo, licensed edition, note that there is a freeware edition which is already very good for simple works). I'll try SoundDiver, it will probably save my life for other future compilations of that kind.

You're welcome! It's old and cranky, but is still by far the best generic library/editor and I still use it regularly...
Thanks for the Dexed collection - when I converted them to Logic presets it was by far the biggest conversion job I've ever done, so I understand the effort involved in compiling it in the first place!
Interesting you mention the CZ stuff, as it's one of the other synths with a huge collection of available patches, and I again converted them into Logic VCZ presets as well, another large job!
If you're compiling a CZ collection, then you might want to consider including all the original CZ patches published as patch charts in UK music magazines.

The CZ-101 was my first digital synth, like many new "digital" users at this time having not enough money to afford a DX. I bought my CZ-101 in 1988. Prior to that, I had only several analog synths, mainly from Korg, and two string-synths (my passion) one of them being the famous Farfisa Syntorchestra. Then in 1994 I offered my CZ-101 to a friend because I was too busy by my job and he pressed me to sell it to him. It's only much later that I could afford my DX7 (second hand, in perfect condition). I had used only VSTIs for the FM synthesis. Very recently I found a second hand CZ-1 for €300 and a second hand DX7II for €300 too (and both in perfect condition) from the same guy who sold me his Korg MS2000b (another wonderful vintage beast) the year before for only €250.

The CZ-101 was also my first digital (and MIDI) synth. Loved it, programmed it extensively and used it on everything for years.
I did eventually sell it for peanuts as I expected a plugin would come soon enough. After about ten years though with still no CZ plugins around I also picked up a s/h CZ-1, which was lovely - but then the CZ plugins started to appear so I sold it off again as I'm trying to keep hardware to a minimum for practical reasons...
