Yeah, Super-8 sounds good. When I just want a nice VA tone quickly, RePro is for me the gold standard. I also have a number of other synths that are high quality in that area. I have enough solid VA synthesis in softsynths that I don't ever need to buy anything again. Actually, I don't 'need' to ever buy another softsynth. We have an almost overwhelming amount of amazing sounds from synths today.V0RT3X wrote: Sat May 04, 2019 4:06 pmI guess it depends on what you want. If you're happy with what you have that's greatpdxindy wrote: Sat May 04, 2019 3:37 am I have so much amazing synthesis at hand, that at this point any new synth is going to have to be something exceptional or even above exceptional for me to consider it or even bother to install a demo. For me, this does not approach exceptional.just stick with it.
Super-8 sounds nice to me, i like how easy it is to use and I think it's worth getting when I want to just get a nice VA tone quickly.
The only issues I have are running out of CPU and the lack of hands on control with soft synths. Sound-wise, I'm set.
I think it is becoming increasingly difficult for companies to come up with something sonically new. It is also difficult to improve workflow any more because the biggest impediment there is in it being software. A 1:1 hardware synth interface is just better for immediacy, hands on control and requires less mental space.
Actually, as I'm typing this, I realize I'm satiated with softsynths. I'll be happy to upgrade existing ones (Zebra 3), but it seems unlikely I will buy anything new. What I have is not just good enough... it may just not be possible for developers to make something new that is meaningfully better.
Thanks for the conversation... it is clarifying something for me that has been coming for a while.
