pdxindy wrote: Sat May 04, 2019 3:37 am I have so much amazing synthesis at hand, that at this point any new synth is going to have to be something exceptional or even above exceptional for me to consider it or even bother to install a demo. For me, this does not approach exceptional.
I guess it depends on what you want. If you're happy with what you have that's great :) just stick with it.

Super-8 sounds nice to me, i like how easy it is to use and I think it's worth getting when I want to just get a nice VA tone quickly.
Yeah, Super-8 sounds good. When I just want a nice VA tone quickly, RePro is for me the gold standard. I also have a number of other synths that are high quality in that area. I have enough solid VA synthesis in softsynths that I don't ever need to buy anything again. Actually, I don't 'need' to ever buy another softsynth. We have an almost overwhelming amount of amazing sounds from synths today.

The only issues I have are running out of CPU and the lack of hands on control with soft synths. Sound-wise, I'm set.

I think it is becoming increasingly difficult for companies to come up with something sonically new. It is also difficult to improve workflow any more because the biggest impediment there is in it being software. A 1:1 hardware synth interface is just better for immediacy, hands on control and requires less mental space.

Actually, as I'm typing this, I realize I'm satiated with softsynths. I'll be happy to upgrade existing ones (Zebra 3), but it seems unlikely I will buy anything new. What I have is not just good enough... it may just not be possible for developers to make something new that is meaningfully better.

Thanks for the conversation... it is clarifying something for me that has been coming for a while. :tu:

That said the synth sounds rather nice actually.
Yes, Prophet-5 had a lowpass only, but since the one NI specifically modelled is Rev 3, which had Curtis chips, meaning CEM3320 for the filter, you can wire it in HP and BP modes, too.

go on...
maybe a little jasmine, a little patchouli.
not as swampy as you might think from appearance.
Indeed, because I would not be surprised by swampy. Did you sing her a little ditty, you know, to try and impress her? That's what I would have done, well, after finding out that she wasn't as swampy as I had imagined.

I see, well, if you ever do want to make friends with a stranger on a bus, you can do it pretty much without talking. You're welcome!

Where did you get this information?

It doesn't sound like a 24dB filter to me....

Too bad they didn't let the synced oscilator to be F.M. modulated by the sync master , like on the prophet .
Imho it's more interesting .
Eyeball exchanging
Soul calibrating ..frequencies

The major issue is many don’t like NI. If you think Super 8 is too simple then it’s not a product meant for you. Wait for Massive X next month. S8 is an ideal one page layout synth for learning synthesis. If I were teaching production at a technical college I’d tell my students to either get Monark or S8. If you don’t like Reaktor don’t even bother with S8. Your life will be much simpler without the burden of dozens of innovative synths, modules and effects that Reaktor comes with. About the price point NI give out $25 off vouchers at least once a year. The GUI is functional and gets the job done. It’s minimalist without any superfluous elements.

I really can't say anything bad about Reaktor. Except for the fact that i probably will never find the time and inclination for diving deeper into it than to view the top structures. :D

As others have mentioned, it opens up a whole new world of possibilities.

luckily theres a load of nerds who do go deeper and they share their sometimes amazing creations :D
there is nothing bad that can be said about reaktor, not that is true or worthwhile anyway.
