On the subject of eye candy I see no use for this other than using CPU cycles that could be used for making sound :

Thanks Urs, I get it.Urs wrote: Sat May 25, 2019 10:44 amYou can of course create your own XY settings.joris.roling wrote: Sat May 25, 2019 9:40 am What are the exact rules for ModMatrix/XY affecting the actual parameters. I've seen double assignments of for example Delay: DryWetMix in X4 & Y4. I don't get what amount of impact X4 vs Y4 have on the Delay: DryWetMix. How does that work?
In some cases our automatic assignment got confused and double-assigned stuff, usually simply because there wasn't anything else it found to assign. In those cases both macros have the same effect, and they stack up on each other. We'll try to avoid those in future.
Actually, to be perfectly honest, I don’t mind double assignments, it could serve a purpose. But I’d like to understand what the (hidden to me) rules are when there are double assignments. Is the impact stacked, and then possibly clipped, or is the impact devided by the number of assigned macros... (hope I explain my question clearly)

This PC was purchased in 2010 apparently. Perhaps this is why Cypher2 almost always overruns on it. The H2 GUI does seem to eat a lot of compute, especially with the new features.Urs wrote: Sat May 25, 2019 10:52 am Note ons will
- redraw the keyboard control
- start a lot of change in the Scope
- start a lot of change in the wavetable visualisation
These can have an impact on CPU, as often described above. In our own tests we only saw a large impact when the Scope or the Wavetable tabs in the hexagon were open, even on six year old machines. However, it's totally possible that the keyboard control and the mini-scopes in the Synth UI have a big impact on some machines too. In that case we'll probably try to publish an alternative skin without these elements - or simply smaller versions of them.
I can double check, but I don't think there are any thread locking issues.

It's a funny quote from movie that came into my mind. It was used there to prepare the audience for a lengthy answer on a seemingly simple question. Nothing to worry about

Something can have "nice animations" and not be a videogameTeksonik wrote: Sat May 25, 2019 11:20 amSorry, I don't get what you're trying to say.....![]()
That's why I said the option to turn off animations for those us who program our synths by listening to them instead of watching them.Urs wrote: Sat May 25, 2019 11:09 amPeople have been demanding visual feedback for modulations forever.![]()
After all they're musical instruments not video games.........![]()
Anyway I won't "demand" anything but the option to turn off animations would be welcome and used immediately here.![]()
If, however, this results in poor performance of the ui (on new systems as well), then it is something i don't need. Or indeed, give it an option to turn it off

I wonder whether more filters from the U-he univers might make it into Hive 2.x.
People might argue that this clashes with the concept of Hive as a "simple, straight forward" synth.
But is Hive 2 still a simple, straight forward synth?
Sure, it can still be approached that way.
But with the new features it also approaches the realms of semi-modular and even generative music, adding extra layers of possibilities and complexity.
These extra possibilities are why I bought Hive 2 (and not Hive 1).
To appeal to this new target audience/persona of people who actually enjoy advanced features, one might consider to also add extra filters (which are already developed in other U-he products).
When one is worried about spooking the people/persona that like it "simple and straight forward", you could just hide that complexity in your UI so that this persona is not confronted with it.
But still make it available for people/the persona that actually enjoys it.
For example in the filter dropdown, you could add a subdir "Advanced" at the bottom and hide specialised filters there, which can be accessed by opening that entry. People that like it straight forward can just ignore that subdir, and use the filters like they always have.
No rush off course. For now enjoy the success of Hive2.

Testing out Hive atm, one of the biggest issues with Hive 2.0 RC I feel, is the huge drift distance of the mouse cursor when moving knobs and sliders. The mouse cursor should lock to the clickable area of the knob or slider as it was in the previous versions (version 8115 for instance). Also I'm using an AMD Radeon RX 570 8 Gig card with a Core I7 920 system @ 3.56 Ghz OC, but knobs do feel kinda rusty in movement when the UI is scaled to 140% at 1440P resolution. I think the drift issue amplifies that, and this is whilst in Studio One 4.5.
There's also a scattering of minor graphical GUI issues to do with spacing, size and location of functions and labels, but most (if not all with a bit of work) I can address myself I think. I'll post a screen grab or two when I'm done with a refined of reskin of it.

Yes the font size is a tiny bit smaller then for example Repro or Zebra (at the same zoom level).Urs wrote: Sat May 25, 2019 8:38 amWe have a ticket for that. I'm not sure if the font size changed from our other products, but I totally get that it might be helpful to increase it when necessary.1. Browser font somehow feels too small
But the greatest gain in readability can be achieved by increasing the contrast. Light grey on dark grey is not optimal.

i can not see any way to individually store/recall/copy/paste
FG and ShapeSequenzer settings like there is for AMP/MOD/LFO
in the ShapeSequenzer it would be nice to
(otpion-) drag&drop individual shapes (copy/paste/replace)
save/recall/copy/paste of whole sequenzes would be great
actually, the drop-down-triangle functionality of AMP/MOD...
...and stored in
/Library/Application Support/u-he/Hive/Modules/
is there anything alike coming...?

This means we have a different email address on record. I can see that you sent an email, but it's weekend here and I have no access to the database. I'm sure you'll get your upgrade first thing Monday morning.strovoknights wrote: Sat May 25, 2019 4:57 pm Hi,Urs,

Yep, that's been a known issue for quite some time. It'll take when you reopen the window.ryan-Phayder wrote: Sat May 25, 2019 4:56 pm On Windows 7 64bit VST2 the gamma doesn't change when changing the setting in preferences.
