Of the subject matter. The sound.

So how do you achieve with MSF the same effect as you have heard on Hive2 when the sustain is at 0 while holding the keys ? Increasing the delay does not sound as flexible.
Time how long the decay takes, how long the release stage, how long there is sound while a key is held, how long there is sound when a key is released? "The sound" is not a specific enough answer.

To mimic the same in MSF, is just the same settings as in Hive 2. Simply have the sustain set to minimum and your sound will decay to silence. How long does that take? Well that depends on how long you decay is.

Well, I've tried it with Hive2 using the Init patch for the simple reason that the Manta patch has a chunk of modulation on it that affects the results. (As expected) changing the release has no effect on the time it takes for the signal to wind down to -inf at max decay.

However, Hive2 does have a longer decay time than MSF. That's about the only difference in behaviour I can find for held notes.

Yes it's the sound. While we can time each part of an envelope the subject from the start of the thread is one from a point of view of a user. For the user, it's the sound, and it is the main subject matter. See (1) below.

Yes, with a max of 10 seconds.

(1) I agree for the release stage being started only when a MIDI key is released.

Well it was all right to get into those details. MSF looks a bit less fishy regarding this aspect of sound producing. Everything else in MSF is top notch and really enjoyable to start creating sounds.

It's about 20 seconds, seen through Bitwig's oscilloscope set at maximum scale.

UPDATE; That the decay is shorter, that it glides faster to the destination point, might help in creating a biased subjective interpretation.

I marked the thread as solved, although I will try again at a later time the very first test at the beginning of the thread in which the behaviour was different between the two synths, for the same notes.

I will come back to this with you at some point to resolve it.
However, some good news for you :)
Did you want a decay that would be longer than 10 seconds right?
Vojtech has just added a new "Time" parameter to the envelopes that can time all values by up to X16.
So now you can have a 2 minutes 40 seconds decay.
Happy days :)

Excellent news, thanks!

It's Not Bad to Decay Slowly, whatever Neil Young says.
