For my taste, it sounds much better than everything in Reaktor or the Microfreak that I tested extensively at one of my friends' house. If you haven't tested it by yourself, all I can say is that the YouTube videos don't do it justice. But you can't argue with taste and I respect your view on this.zerocrossing wrote: Fri Aug 09, 2019 1:56 pm Frankly, I don’t quite see the point of this instrument, but if it’s for you, it’s for you. To me, a Microfreak is a much more interesting way of adding a bit of analog/digital hybrid fun, and there’s plenty of cheap stuff like Uno to try. Or a used MoPho.
Don’t get me wrong, I think it sounds interesting. I just think that you’ll do better with Reaktor 6 and not have to worry about USB audio.

First of all, you need to let it warm for a while before using it. After that, you hit that tune button at the right of the usb button.PhilG wrote: Fri Aug 09, 2019 3:19 pm Unfortunately I had to stop using Trueno because after some minutes the tuning of the oscillators drifted.
And even worse, the oscillators are detuned to each other and differently depending on the played key range.
A played C1 could be nearly a semitone too low, C2 was ok and C3 nearly a semitone too high.
Did anyone else make the same experience?

I’ve got tons of hardware and software, ranging from freeware to $4200 instruments and most of them (at least the hardware) was purchased at least in part based on SoundCloud and YouTube demos. Every time that I’ve demoed or purchased an instrument based on the idea that somehow the “magic” of an instrument isn’t being represented in the YouTube/SoundCloud tracks, I’ve ended up disappointed and the instrument went back or was resold. I’ve been at this rodeo enough times to be able to sus out the general character of an instrument or effect based on online demos.djnro666 wrote: Fri Aug 09, 2019 4:32 pmFor my taste, it sounds much better than everything in Reaktor or the Microfreak that I tested extensively at one of my friends' house. That said, I’ve gotten Reaktor to sound right up there in quality compared to some of my higher end hardware instruments, and you’re telling me that’s this one will trounce a good Reaktor Blocks parch running at 88 kHz? I highly doubt it.

Well, unless one actually has a Trueno to compare to a Reaktor (or whatever) patch, one can’t know for sure.

Trueno and Reaktor are two totally different beasts.
No point to compare.

Why not? They’re not totally different things. Trueno and a cocker spaniel are two totally different things. Reaktor and Trueno are both electronic instruments that require a computer. So, let’s compare. Make a raw basic sound that you think is great. Use everything but the digital oscillator function, because that will be too difficult to match. Use a basic saw or pulse. Post a recording and a screenshot of the patch and we’ll actually see if there’s a difference in quality. Character, is another story, and if you’re married to the character of a synth, have at it. I get that.Distorted Horizon wrote: Fri Aug 09, 2019 5:48 pm Trueno and Reaktor are two totally different beasts.

The sounds on the website of the synth are quite good. If you want to hear it, it can give you a taste. But the architecture is quite complex and it doesn't cover a lot of it's possible sounds. I don't know what went wrong with the 3 or 4 YouTube videos of it but the sounds in it are really not my cup of tea. I like the sound of Reaktor but this synth is right on my taste for how a substractive synth should sound.zerocrossing wrote: Fri Aug 09, 2019 5:20 pmI’ve got tons of hardware and software, ranging from freeware to $4200 instruments and most of them (at least the hardware) was purchased at least in part based on SoundCloud and YouTube demos. So, in case anyone was following my posts, it seems that the plugins not appearing in Live 9.7.7 or 10.1 on Mac 10.14 must be an issue on my end because the developer has stated that the VST does indeed appear on his Mac running the same OS. So, I think everyone else can disregard my previous comments, at least in so far as they suggest a fault with the Trueno software.

I'd personally use both of them. Both sound very good (stupid soundcloud cut some top life) but very different. IMO Trueno sounds more lively but damn that Reaktor sounds good too.

like I said, I know I'm missing out on my optane, and that's really too bad. but other than that, my Win7 is not your average Win7, or worse, Bones' workplace Win7, it's tweaked and optimized up the wazoo and take my word for it: it's flawless in operation and just as quick/instant as if I had W10 on it.ghettosynth wrote: Fri Aug 09, 2019 3:58 pm I'm not going to Bones' extremism here, but it really isn't. I still have one machine running Windows 7 and, while it works fine, Windows 10 is really the superior OS these days. It has matured significantly and is generally more stable than Windows 7.
If you do any kind of computing work other than music then the integrated linux is well worth the price of admission. That alone has made me hate Windows much much less than I used to.
it's very much a "I have zero reason whatsoever to update then have to spend a weekend re-authorizing my stuff" situation here.
