MSoundFactory - Random on Note as a Per-Voice Modulator?

Hello Everyone.

I am working on a synth built within MSoundFactory that's inspired by the per-voice variation in the Oberheim 8 Voice.

For reference:

I am very happy to see the per-voice architecture within MSoundFactory, as it is the cornerstone of such a synth :phones:

Over the last few weeks I've been plugging away, setting up the modulators and mutiparameter mapping, when tonight I realized that the "Random on Note" special modulator is not a per-voice modulator, but instead is a global modulator.

This leads to situations, where the triggering of a new voice modulates any voices before it that are still being held.

Here is a quick demo of what I'm talking about:

As I mentioned in the vid, I was able to craft a workaround by using a very slow Per-Voice LFO and Modulating the initial phase with a Random On-note modulator, but this seems like a kinda odd work-around.

Is there setting somewhere that I'm missing that will make the Random on Note modulator work on a Per-Voice basis? Is there some other way to approach this that I'm not thinking of :?:

Anyway, thanks for building this awesome synth, I'm having lots of fun with it!

Hello. I'm honestly not sure I 100% understood what you precisely need to do (I assumed slight "analog" detuning on each new note pressed), but is this the modulator you're looking for?
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Oh yes!

I think that is a solution, thanks Niowiad!

Let me think this through...

Random on Note crates a different random value for each attached destination. (Optimal for my use case if it was per-voice, not global.)

vs.

Note Random would create shared random values among any modulation destinations their attached to.

I should be able to get around that though by using Note Random having a different random transformation for each modulation destination so the values arent the same at each destination?

Use "True Random"

I'll be the first one to admit having a "little" trouble fully understanding all the modulations sources in MSF :hihi:

Hehe. The help docs are updated now, so use the "?" in the per-voice modulation source panel and you can see all the info there.
Are there any, in particular, you would like me to explain?

You're too kind
And you're right, I took a quick look at the documentation which explains those quite clearly, thanks.
Some of those I had never seen anywhere else yet, like the "Polyphony N" source.
