The #toxic behavior in general, is certainly one of the biggest probs in this area.
The art of knowing is knowing what to ignore.

Sad to hear about the health problems and that there might be no more big new projects.
Would be another loss in the plug-in market.
Well, maybe do an iOS app (cheap but no piracy, a more friendly community and not such a saturated market....yet)
feels apropriate.... ->

I think you guys are completely missing the point. I don't think chk071 is bashing Markus at all, and definitely not showing hatred against him. What I'm sure chk071 meant was that Markus didn't write that he has health issues to get sympathies and getting people to start a fundraising for him, especially not since we don't know what kind of health issues he has.
The health care in Germany is good, it's not USA we are talking about, where you can't get a good health care without either an insurance or lots of money.

My interest in donating is the gesture itself, the good will. Often times a good gesture in itself is healing. If the state has great medical, great. If people are trying to rationalize away compassion and empathy, then you have found evil. Everytime I see someone try to tear down a gesture of good will, you know that person missed the point.
It’s not hard to imagine such people eating a pile of hamburgers in front of a cow. As the cow stares, such people might say:, “Hey, I paid for these fair and square.” Heartless.

Only on KVR do I have to explain myself for offering to help someone who is sick. My offer was to Markus and yet other people are replying on his behalf. That is pretty condescending in my opinion... He is a grown man who can speak for himself. Seriously if this is the type of stuff that offends you then go to hell.

i think there was some degree of misunderstanding there too, i think he ment (chk071) that he (persoanly) wouldn't like to create something like a "GoFundMe" kind of thing (while stating that probably wasn't Markus intention), that's what i understood.......
if someone would like help by doing it, nothing intrinsecally bad there either....

I would love to buy a standalone version of the Icarus FX, but I guess that is not possible anymore... I was thinking about this, in the end a separate fx is way more flexible, since you can place it anymore within the DAW routing. Found "Multi FX" on the tone2 page, but it seems to be Windows only, though the screen shot parameters look very similar to the Icarus 1.6 FX parameters. Super neat would be if you could easily transfer the FX settings from the synth to the separate FX plugin, e.g. thru copy-paste buffer.

Didn’t Markus mention something about planning an external input for Icarus in a future update?Hanz Meyzer wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2019 9:34 pm I would love to buy a standalone version of the Icarus FX, but I guess that is not possible anymore... Dude, just let it go...wagtunes wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2019 3:46 pmNo, I'm a realist. I too have finished making sound libraries. It is no longer financially feasible. It was for a while, but no more. So I'm done. To that end, I no longer buy new synths. I don't need anymore and business wise, makes no sense. The return doesn't justify it.JunSev wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2019 3:41 pmWhy you need to put in that way? because ok, we have to be realistic, but I also believe in solutions and solutions are possible.wagtunes wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2019 3:32 pmNo, I tend to take people at their word when they say something. When Linplug said they were done, they were done. When Camel Audio said they were done, they were done. Markus has flat out said he has health problems and it's no longer financially feasible to make new synths and has explicitly said Icarus 2 would be his last synth.Echoes in the Attic wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2019 3:24 pmHe was trying to pay him a compliment you raging dickhead. And you wonder why you get in fights with people here. All you do is provoke.
When people say things like that, especially given the state of the vst market, I tend to believe them.
FTR, I own almost every Tone 2 synth and am sorry to hear this news.
It just doesn't surprise me.
Anybody who expects this not to be the case I think is in for a big disappointment.
But, whatever.
So why not to believe Icarus can evolve and continuing being developed as long as there are some sales, even in a slower time period updates if needed? why not to believe woth the pass of the time Icarus 2 can be successful and give place in some years to Icarus 3?
You're a little bit pessimistic.
Also, having health issues myself, I absolutely understand where Markus is coming from and empathize with him. It's hard enough working when you're not well even when times are good. But when they're not, forget it. You're done. Trust me.
So be as optimistic as you want. But I've been a Tone 2 customer long enough and am all too aware of Markus integrity (he's one of the good guys) to know that when he says he's done, he's done.
Eventually, you will see that to be the case.
