Too redundant for me. Do I need 15 EQs and 20 compressors for the four bar loops that I can't get seem to make anything out of?

IKR? There are musicians who mix incredible shit with stock plugins. Wtf am I doing? That being said, I know I need the new multiband OldTimer compressor. That’ll make all the difference.

One fairly big producer I knew used to sample directly off of other people’s records. He wasn’t crate digging for rare sounds, he was sampling records that were current hits at the time, after the sounds had already been EQ’d and compressed to death during mixing, mastering, and pressing to vinyl. I had too much “pride” and “integrity” to do it but sadly he always did better mixes than me.

He wasn’t crate digging for rare sounds, he was sampling records that were current hits at the time, after the sounds had already been EQ’d and compressed to death during mixing, mastering, and pressing to vinyl. I had too much “pride” and “integrity” to do it but sadly he always did better mixes than me.

Ah! The old Eric Persing method of sampling! Except he wasn't sampling records. It does work well to get nice even samples and makes looping/editing far easier. The only problem is once you know what the trick is, you can never unhear it.

I know of someone that did the same thing back in the day. I've fallen out of contact with them and dont know if initial success has translated into ongoing success. Doing things my "prideful" way has gotten me some reality TV success, but not ongoing : I struggle with how many samples vs. my playing can my tracks be

But isn’t owning software fools gold anyways? I mean, I own Battery 2 and the only way I can still use it is buy continuously upgrading and updating to the most current version? I own tons of software that are useless now because they’ve been replaced, updated or discontinued
