Just downloaded the pdf and had a quick skim, seems superb indeed.
No idea how to get the mobi version onto my Kindle though, will investigate.

Yes that's indispensable (and that wasn't an easy word to spell I tell you)WatchTheGuitar wrote: Thu Apr 09, 2020 8:07 am
There's a fantastic free application called Calibre that handles conversions and uploads of eBooks to Kindles

I’ve got Kindle Paperwhite, latest issue.autodafe wrote: Wed Apr 08, 2020 10:39 pm the Making Music: 74 Creative Strategies for Electronic Music Producers is such a wonderful resource.... I bought it on my Kindle 2-3 years ago and I was just re-reading just before the actual shit started. Highly recommended to make full use of your "music" time and ideas
Very disappointed to the Kindle ability to to print stems/scores and play audio examples.
VERY PRIMITIVE!
Doesn’t matter to me, if the guilty one is the content publisher or the platform, but if the content is sold as a ”Kindle Paperwhite format”, it should work in that platform.
I don’t know, if this is the issue with the Making Music: 74 Creative Strategies for Electronic Music Producers, but after 3-4 disappointment, I have stopped ordering music training stuff, sheet music etc. stuff for my Kindle.

True, but a modern reading platform should be able to handle multimedia - even plain pictures (such as the printed scores are), are difficult to handle for this platform.revvy wrote: Thu Apr 09, 2020 10:37 amYeah man, but I tell ya, it rocks for reading books.Harry_HH wrote: Thu Apr 09, 2020 9:14 amI’ve got Kindle Paperwhite, latest issue.autodafe wrote: Wed Apr 08, 2020 10:39 pm the Making Music: 74 Creative Strategies for Electronic Music Producers is such a wonderful resource.... Bear in mind you can install Kindle apps on PC/Mac/iPad/Android etc so you're not locked to using the one device and other device screens will be much better for viewing certain types of content, especially images with those that offer pinch-zoom functionality unavailable on Kindle hardware.
It's not really a multimedia platform though, obviously aping printed media is its main aim.

That’s what I’ve tried, as well. Unfortunately content dedicated to one platform rarely is optimized for an other.WatchTheGuitar wrote: Thu Apr 09, 2020 11:32 am Bear in mind you can install Kindle apps on PC/Mac/iPad/Android etc so you're not locked to using the one device and other device screens will be much better for viewing the contents, especially ones that offer pinch-zoom.

And - I wonder why I have purchased this not-that-unexpensive Kindle, if I have to use other platforms for versatile content?
I think my disappointment is justified. Kinde is just an over-advertised US gimmic, sidekick of the Amazon, not a real deal.

Definition of a ”book” includes, for me anyway, books including pictures and graphs (and scores!), nowdays even syncronized audio and video, whereas plain text.revvy wrote: Thu Apr 09, 2020 12:02 pm Unless you buy it for its intended purpose, to read books. Using front-lit eInk or whatever so it's kind to your eyes. Works for me.
Kindle is supposed to be a modern platform.
In fact, its a step back for 40 years, in many ways.

I usually read things like this on my iPad Kindle app. I think the Fire or the PC version of the kindle app also work. The e-ink readers are not really made for pictures unfortunately. And the sound is iffy.Harry_HH wrote: Thu Apr 09, 2020 10:57 amTrue, but a modern reading platform should be able to handle multimedia - even plain pictures (such as the printed scores are), are difficult to handle for this platform.revvy wrote: Thu Apr 09, 2020 10:37 amYeah man, but I tell ya, it rocks for reading books.Harry_HH wrote: Thu Apr 09, 2020 9:14 amI’ve got Kindle Paperwhite, latest issue.autodafe wrote: Wed Apr 08, 2020 10:39 pm the Making Music: 74 Creative Strategies for Electronic Music Producers is such a wonderful resource.... Good for novels, that's it.
But they are much better on your eyes than the iPad
Edit: And this is also why I only buy the cheapest version of the Kindle. I love to read books. Mysteries mostly. But some scifi/fantasy and romance (hey, I'm a girl, I'm allowed) It is easy to carry in my purse and holds a lot of books. But you are correct. It is only great for basic books.
