BITWIG charged my money from credit card and no response......

Isn´t there an e-mail notification like e.g. amazon has? it would be great if the company sends out a message a week earlier to inform about the future purchase. Otherwise I see no problem with this method. It´s a ledgitament way companies work these days. Could be much worse...Evgeny_M wrote: Wed Apr 15, 2020 7:53 pm i did it myself after refund, as i promised. Let my topic will be a warning to everyone. Could the OP and others enlighten us on this, if there is/was an e-mail notification. If there was one, I don´t see the need to discuss this further.
Everyone knows more than I do...

Oh c'mon... Everytime you buy something you are signing a contract. And it's your fault if you don't read everything carefully when signing a contract. If you aren't a native english speaker it's still your fault for signing something you don't understand.

Now now, let's not be so rash as to say people should take responsibility for everything they sign or agree to.stamp wrote: Wed Apr 15, 2020 8:13 pm Oh c'mon... Sub, no one told me this!!
So the licence expires after one year unless you renew??!!!
No, it doesnt. You still have full use of the last release version that came out during that period.
In fact my first licence lasted almost 2 years before I had to pay for an upgrade. Then I waited 6 months until I registered the upgrade.

It's a subscription for the latest updates, not the program itself. 2co even calls it an "Upgrade Plan subscription" and asks you to "renew your subscription". It's a bit disingenuous to pretend that it's not a subscription just because it sounds bad.
Signatures are so early 2000s.

Eh. The problem is that the most common understanding of subscription is "you can't use it once you stop paying" (like Netflix, PS Plus, Spotify, etc.) and many people won't bother investigating further when they read "Bitwig is a subscription".Kongru wrote: Wed Apr 15, 2020 10:52 pm It's a subscription for the latest updates, not the program itself. 2co even calls it an "Upgrade Plan subscription" and asks you to "renew your subscription". We might discuss at lengths whether the colloquial understanding of the word is correct or not, but fact of the matter is this is how it's interpreted by most. So it's actually disingenuous and harmful - very often on purpose and with malicious intent - to call it that, when it's NOT at all what the word "means" for most people

Maybe Bitwig can do something about that by not reinforcing these ideas with tick boxes for auto-renewal.antic604 wrote: Wed Apr 15, 2020 11:46 pmEh. The tick box is part of 2co's set up and is the option to subscribe to the upgrade plan, not the software licence. Although I personally cant see a point to subscribing to an upgrade plan I don't like the idea of removing peoples right to choose, it doesn't sit well with me. Remember, the tick box is NOT selected, you have to go out of your way to select it, if you do nothing but pay for the update all you get is that one update.Gamma-UT wrote: Thu Apr 16, 2020 7:26 amMaybe Bitwig can do something about that by not reinforcing these ideas with tick boxes for auto-renewal.antic604 wrote: Wed Apr 15, 2020 11:46 pmEh. Also I am not sure that many people are buying directly from Bitwig/2co when its normally quite a bit cheaper in other on line shops and the cheap deals are always posted on the bitwig forum where we all stock up! Although the upgrade (+ 12 month free) is advertised at 169 USD, I paid 108 USD from JJR which isn't bad for a major update (I went to V3) and 12 month of other significant updates free.
I think Bitwig explain it all pretty well themselves on their website regarding the upgrade plan.
12 MONTHS OF FREE UPGRADES
A new Bitwig Studio license (or upgrade) includes a 12-month upgrade plan. This means that any new version released within 12 months of your registration will be available to you, free of charge.
When your initial upgrade plan expires, your license of Bitwig Studio will continue to work; you just won't receive new releases of the program for free. You can renew your upgrade plan at any time.
How much does a 12-month upgrade plan cost?
159 EUR / 169 USD*. The upgrade plan includes all program updates released during the time period.
Can I continue using the software after my upgrade plan expires?
Yes, you can. This is not a subscription; you own a perpetual license. The upgrade plan is only required for access to the latest release.
Will I get bug fix updates after my upgrade plan has expired?
Yes, all minor updates will be available to you until the next major update. So if you are on version 2.3.1 when your plan expires, you will be able to download and use 2.3.2, 2.3.3, etc. But version 2.4 will be unavailable until you renew your upgrade plan.
What if my upgrade plan has already expired?
You can renew your license at any time.
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!
