Can I add expansions to Synthmaster Player?

I want to purchase Synthmaster Player on sale for $9. I put in my card info and click submit. It keeps kicking me back to the purchase page and telling me that if I buy a Synthmaster expansion I get the Player for free. Question is I don't have Synthmaster Instrument. Can I still play the expansion in the Player?
